Spirit Children. Mary Ann Winkowski

Hiya,

I've been reading a few books about people who can communicate with spirits lately. I do believe some people are able to communicate with people who have passed away and I believe spirits are all around us.

Before I go on, if you don't beleieve this and think the afterlife is a load of crap please do not post, this isn't a debate about that.

After my Grandad passed away my interest in such things grew ten fold as I believe I can sense him somethimes.

Anywhoo, I have been reading a book by Mary Ann Winkowski, a spiritualist who has been communication with those passed over for 50 years.

Alot of the things she says ring true to me. That when you pass you ahve your own 'white light' which you can go through to 'cross over'. Your light stays with you up until 72 hours after your last memorial or final funeral.

If you choose not to go into the light then you are an earthbound spirit.

Alot of what she says I found very comforting, until she talked about children.

She says that when a child dies they have the light too but not all children go into it. If their light fades they are trapped on earth forever being the age they died.

She noted a case where a 5 year old girl had run away from the light and had died in the 40's. Since then she remained a 5 year old and wandered the town staying at peoples homes who had children then oving on when the children grew.

This upset me so, so much.

The though of a 5 year old being so lost and trapped forever.

It upset me to the point of crying and my husband, when asked what was wrong, said it was a load of bollocks and if there was a light and a better place to move onto do I really think that whoever or what ever was beyond that light would allow a spirit child to wander liek that.

I agree with him on that but what she has said in the rest of the book sounds liek it could be true to me and she sounds a very genuine person and it IS my belief that people can do what she claims to do, so have no reason to doubt her. Testimonials about her are evry positive.

But it breaks my heart to think this could really eb the case.

I hope I don't sound like a nutter

I don't really believe in spirits being still in this world, either by choice or because they're stuck.

But, I think, if you do believe it, then you can choose whether or not you believe everything this particular person says. Even if you agree with someone on some things, that doesn't mean you have to believe they are right in every detail. She may (or may not) be correct about spirits having a choice. But, if there is some higher power which they are going to, which causes this light to exist for a limited time, then surely he/she/it/they would have the sense to set up a system where children too young to make such a decision for themselves would be automatically guided into the "right" choice?

Like I say, I think the important thing, whatever your belief system, is that accepting some parts doesn't mean you automatically have to accept all of it. I am a Christian, and there are many people who teach a lot of stuff I agree with. But I often think "Well, I agree on X but think they're wrong on Y and Z"

All I can really suggest is to read more. Has she written any other books?
Or maybe try different authors- they may know more than her about other aspects of the afterlife. eg. she knows that spirits get trapped, someone else may work with spirits who got trapped and help them to leave.

At the moment my dp is reading books by Dr Brain Weiss who does a lot of past life regression stuff. A totally different perspective but you one might be interested to read because it seems to deal with what happens to us after we die in a very positive way.

Does she say whether the spirits are trapped forever?

I think that spirits can go into the light at anytime. They can only be trapped by their own beliefs - e.g. not wanting to move on.

Most spirits that you will see / sense around you are 'just visiting' on this side of life, whether it be people or places.

Honestly don't let it upset you. I know of a little boy in spirit who regularly visits a cafe in a very old building cos he likes to sit with people as they are chatting and likes to go sit with people who are on their own!

What kind of bizarre system waits for 72 hours and then says 'times up.' I don't know the lady, and I don't want to critisise someone with much more experience than me but I don't think the spirit world goes by the clock.

All sorts of mediums / spiritualists have different opinions about this kind of detailed stuff. All the information that they gather / sense is influenced by their own prejudices, opinions and personally held beliefs. I have a sneaky suspicion that there is no one universal truth as such, but in the meantime a good dose of common sense and a questioning mind will do nobody any harm.

FWIW I'm a trainee medium!

And also I second what amuminscotland said!

She 'makes the light' for all spirits she meets and allows them to pass over.

I've only read a few other books, one being Lisa Williams, I went to see her earlier in the year and she was great.

Apparantly this Mary Ann can only talk to earthbound spirits not ones that have crossed over.

She says the spirits are not trapped, if they went to a funeral parlour they can use somebody else white light to cross over but says not alot of them know this.

Wow, Dippy, can you see/talk to spirits?

I see spirits very rarely.
I can feel a spirits presence, and if it's someone I have known in life, I can hear them in my head, however if I haven't known them, it's harder. I have had messages for other people, but it's been given to me in feelings / images. This has only happened a few times.

I'm working on it!

Disenchanted 3 - for a different outlook on what happens to spirit children you could try a lovely book called Angels in My Hair by a lady whose surname is Byrne, she is a very convincing and devoutly religious lady who has a chapter in her book all about a spirit child visiting her which is very uplifting.
