Un-Christened Godparents?

I was wondering if God Parents had to be christened? My good friend has asked me and three others to be her son's god parents, the two other women have been christened, as has the god father, but I haven't, and none of us know if I have to be or not?

Thank you! I hope to be a good role model for him

I'm one. It wasn't a problem. I couldn't be officially announced in the church service, but I was at the "do" afterwards. Which is fine with me. I discharge all duties a churchy godfather would do, except obviously the God stuff. Which his parents take care of to their satisfaction anyway.

did you know you can have civil naming ceremonies - you can go to a registry office and a celebrant will host it - you can hold them anywhere you like. If you friend had one, the religious ones could say a prayer or a reading, the others could say something appropriate for them

its the modern way

Friend of mine asked me to be her daughter's godmom before she was born, but that was almost 5 years ago and I'm almost sure she hasn't been baptized. And me and said friend really haven't been on the best of terms for the past year or so. Haven't talked at all in this time. So without her daughter being baptized am I really the godmom or is it just a piece of paper to some people.
