Assalaamu alaikum,

Just came across the book. Did you enjoy it?
Was it informative and inspiring? Or was it filled with weak narrations?

What inspiring(Sahih) Islamic books would you recommend?

Walaikum Al-salaam Fulaani, I haven't read the Karen Armstrog one but would strongly recommend the Martin Lings biography of the Prophet (pbuh).

Hello, i was given the book by a friend and would also want to know what the muslims think of the book.

difficultdecision · 08/07/2009 17:46

I'm a muslim and have the book. It's not bad but this one is better. It's written for children really but it's a good introduction to seerah (the life of Muhammed s.a.w.)

I've finally read Karen Armstrong's biography of Muhammad SAW and i would definitely NOT recommend it as it is not accurate. I came across lots of errors and misinterpretaions so i didn't bother to finish the book. But i do recommend the one by Martin Lings.

Wa alaikumusalaam wa rahmatullah Hum81!

Dear Fulanni,

was interested in your question because I read karen ARmstrong's autobiography when I was younger, and I suppose I would call myself a 'supporter' of her work - I can't cope with the word 'fan.' I railed against the idea that her works are full of inaccuracies. Maybe it could be said that she writes from her own perspective, which inevitably will be from a background of Christianity. However, she is a very scholarly woman and I admire her integrity. If you want to see/hear her, google 'Charter for Compassion - Karen Armstrong' That gives you more of an idea of what she's like. In my view she has great respect for all religious teachings, and talks about their commonality - i.e. central is the idea of the Golden Rule. regards,
