What is the congregation's response to the prayer for the recently departed during the intercessions...?

...is anyone able to tell me what the standard one or two line response is? It is said in my C of E services but I never fully know what it is, word for word?
Thank you.

There's a number of versions of intercessions - but if you look here you'll hopefully be able to find the version your church uses. Do they not have the words printed on a sheet for visitors? I always feel it's a bit unfriendly if they expect everyone to know the responses off by heart

Thank you very much, I'll have a look through. No, funnily enough, everything is in the order of service except that response.
My Grandad died yesterday and we will be remembering him in the service on Sunday and sit has therefore become very important that I know the words, and dont just mumble along at that point!

Oh, it mught not be an "official" part of the service order then.

Is it "Rest eternal grant to them O Lord" then "And may light perpetual shine upon them" ?

Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord
And let light perpetual shine on them
May they rest in peace

R/ And rise in Glory (if C of E)
R/ Amen (if RC)

(the second line is sometimes done as a response to the first line)

yes, that is it -as you both suggest, with the second line said as a response to the first. Thanks - very much appreciated.
