Do Baptists Baptise and if so when

My religion has never been tied to a particular church. However I've finally found a home if you see what I mean. The local Baptist Church is everything I would wish from a bricks and mortar incarnation of my faith. It is sooo welcoming of children... However..... I don't really understand an awful lot about the different branches of the Christian Religion. My first two children have been Baptised. I would like my third child to be treated equally and also to have God parents that will be extra special in his life. BUT [embarassed face] I have no idea whether the Baptist Church baptise children. Would someone mind explaining it all to me.

Many thanks

Aren't Baptists the one who only baptise adults (not babies/children) by full immersion in water?

found this if it helps

Other denominations baptise infants at a christening service and if they want to the children confirm those promises when they are older at their confirmation. The baptists baptise people when they are older by total immersion. Their churches have a special "bath " for this under the floor. However a baby can be "dedicated" which is a similar service to a christening but without the actual baptism. You just need to talk to the minister. Glad you've found a church where you feel at home

Oh, you don't normally have godparents in a non confirmist i.e. non C of E church but again you can speak to the minister about this.

Baptists baptise by immersion on confession of faith, so infants are too small to be baptised. They do a service of dedication where the parents and the congregation promise to look after that child and to show him/her what the Christian life is like, with the help of God. So there are usually no special Godparents, since the whole congregation would be there to look out for your child.
You might like to consider baptism by immersion for yourself, even if you have been 'christened' as a child.

we have dedicated both our children because I grew up in a baptist church but we actually go to a c of e church ( and had them dedicated in our c of e )

we have godparents for both our children and I'm sure if you speak to the minister he won't mind adding god parents into the dedication service

Yes, you can have your third child dedicated, which will very much have the feel of an infant christening, though without the renouncing of evil. You will be able to choose people to stand with you as godparents, though there is no such formal role in the Baptist church. Children can be dedicated as soon as you like, though one of mine was 3 when he was dedicated.
