Mediums - the Christian perspective?

Hi all, hope you can help me. I am a Christian but DH isn't and nor are any of his family. 4 members of DH's family went for individual readings with a medium at the weekend. Talking to them afterwards and hearing how accurate this person was regarding details of their lives he couldn't possibly have known (the sceptic in me always thought they must have done some past research or made the people having the readings fill out some form or something), made me feel very uneasy. I was mentioned by the medium in two of the readings as well (my MIL and SIL), which I'm finding a bit scared about.
They were asking me my opinions on the medium (knowing I'm a Christian) but I found it very hard to explain why I felt the whole thing was dangerous and scary. Can anybody help me with Christian viewpoints/links on the matter of mediums?
Thanks for any pointers!

I would try not to worry about it. My feeling is that good mediums are very clever at both choosing their words carefully and responding to signals from their clients in order to lead them very quickly to whatever is lurking in the client's subconscious. This can be very useful for some people (and a lot quicker and cheaper than therapy).

further to UD and IB, if you read Derren Brown's book (can't remember the title) he explains how they do it.

I'd be skeptical of anyone who charges money for such 'services'.

There are mystics and people who are 'touched', if you will, throughout Christian history, of course.

But these mediums and psychics who charge for these readings and these Derek Acorah types are con artists who usually take advantage of grieving and vulnerable people.

Well, if I believed implicitly in mediums & suchlike guff, then wouldn't 'Asking questions of made-up anything is a bit batty' come under 'bashing other peoples beliefs'?

If it makes you uncomfortable OP, steer clear & ask family members not to discuss it with you.
