just pick one and give it a go? Look on CIS website for churches that have toddler groups and go along to one? You can only try them out until you fimd one that you like!

Where do you live? Maybe you live near a MNetter that goes to a great church

lots of churches have websites these days telling you a bit about their activities and groups etc.
We are moving counties later in the year so I used the 'a church near you' website to see what was in the area and then usually they have web links to individual churches. If you have an idea what it is you want - and you say an active younger person's community and something for your children to enjoy - you should be able to get a good feel for the community by dropping in for a Sunday service. Sometimes it is hard to 'try before you commit' because people can be so welcoming and it's hard if you feel you ought to go back, but new people come to our church all the time and some stay, some don't, nowt wrong with trying a few.

I hope you find a church that suits you and your family.

I agree with titmouse. Look at websites to get a feel of the place and then on Church notice boards to see if they have a lot of childrens activites etc. You really need to turn up and give it a go, beware which service you go to though (if you can't find it on website give vicar, priest whatever a ring) - the reason being some Churches only have family services on certain Sundays and you might turn up and find Matins going on, which is not always family friendly.

Churches vary a lot between areas - around here the Baptists are the lively lot with lots of family fun going on and the CofE are more traditional but it varies depending on where you are.

It is good if people are welcoming but don't feel you have to go back if you don't fancy - they are friendly to everyone regardless and won't hold it against you!

Good luck

You could try the local christian bookshop. They might have a list of all the local churches, and may also be able to give you a steer on the style of each of them. Then just try a few out.
