Is anyone who is christened allowed to go up for bread and wine / blessing at a CofE church?

I did at Easter, but afterwards wasn't sure if I was meant to .

I love the diversity of our church! My old vicar was very open about welcoming all to take communion as it was a way of sharing, and being part of of the family of the church.

Actually, 'previous' - in a different church, rather than 'old'!

It is also essential to have a spiritual position on the Use of Tambourines and Guitars in Church; talk about giving up stuff in Lent but fail periodically; and not admit you feel awkward shaking hands with utter strangers during The Peace.

i hate guitars and tambourines in church! hate 'rock bands' crooning away modern pop songs too.

i like a proper ordained priest who has a degree in theology-not a bloke in a pullover.

don't mind the peace so much as long as it is reasonably restrained.

also cringe when people do the 'stretching their arms in the air when praying/singing' etc

i'm sorry but it's just not BRITISH

Indeed.
My DS1 made a very good argument the other about how evangelism had quite put him off God, because it was trying so hard to be trendy and relevant that it had missed the dignity bit that he thought was so important.

Oh dear MMJ you wouldn't like our church - we have 4 guitars some days, a drum kit, a clarinet and a keyboard. However, the music group leader is very good and also plays the proper church organ. We have a mix of old and new but no rock songs that I can think of. Mostly it is enjoyable although I agree with a comment I heard the other day from somebody who said that the modern worship songs tend to be a couple of verses repeated ad infinitum. They can be a bit samey.

I agree with you about hand waving and I am not too comfortable with the peace either, mainly as I don't know whether to walk around or stay where I am!

VBM - I also agree with your DS that heavy evangelism is very off putting. Back in the days when DH and I didn't go to church for months on end, we would occasionally go to my BIL church which is a very evangelical free church for some special occasion or another. The entire sermon was constantly interrupted by people shout Amen or Praise God. I often thought it shows a lack of dignity and also of respect for the preacher and for God - they should sit and listen imo. Its evangelical heckling.

in my church you don't have to be confirmed to take communion you have to have faith and do reverantly
