Am not a Muslim but am teaching RE to y5/6 who have lots of questions, none of which I can answer. V rural small school so sadly no useful Muslim parents.

This site is good for any RE. Use the web search with the right key stage. A lot of it is very good.
RE online

Also Primary Resources. Good powerpoints on this site.

Primary Resources is great for all subjects.

racingsnake · 23/11/2008 21:07

Thanks for the ideas. Primary resources is always good, especially for mfl (my special interest).
More Koran ideas please - 28 children need guiding to good (prefereably different) sources to answer their questions about the Koran.

www.reciter.org/

lets them see what it looks like written down and here the arabic

www.scribd.com/doc/17651/The-Life-of-the-Prophet-Muhammad-by-Leila-Azzam

can be read online and chapter 15 tells the story of how the Qu'ran was first revealed

www.articlesbase.com/religion-articles/what-is-quran-koran-facts-about-quran-1249 30.html

sorry - didn't do them as links

racingsnake · 24/11/2008 17:45

Thanks for the links. I am going to divide the class into groups and give one group each site to look at and try and answer the questions they thought of together.

The children will love the idea of asking you questions - do you have a direct e-mail address that we could use (only for this purpose and only one joint e-mail under my supervision, of course.

Not sure if I would be brace enough to contact Dr Mona Sadiqi. (Although you are probably just as famous and important)

I would contact her she is very helpful

ummadam · 25/11/2008 10:05

lol! sure, I'll just have a think about what email address to put up here and let you know although I'm only famous and important to my little boy

I'm sure Dr Sadiqi wouldn't mind you contacting her - you can only ask

ummadam · 25/11/2008 10:07

Dr Siddiqui she has an email address so presumably doesn't mind being contacted.

beeny · 25/11/2008 13:20

I know she would not mind being contacted go for it.

racingsnake · 25/11/2008 17:58

Right, I have copied her e-mail address and will suggest it to y5 tomorrow. Thanks!
