I have been told my son is very gifted and does this regularly when asleep. What is it (have googled and scared myself) and should I talk about it with him - even though I have no experience!

I remember being a bit obsessed with this when I was a teen! Who is telling you that your son is doing it?

It supposedly involves one's spirit leaving the body and being able to travel to other places while one's body remains still (eg, lying in bed).

How old is your son? What does he say about it all? Am v intrigued!

My son is disabled and cannot speak well. He can see 'ghosts' (for want of a better name) and often tells me about a lady who sits in a chair opposite him. He has alos pointed out animals and a man to me - I couldn't see any of them, but was convinced that my son could, simply from the way he was talking. In fact he speaks far more clearly than usual when talking about things he can see.
I went to see a spiritual medium on Tuesday to find out who the lady was, and the meduim told me my son is very gifted - far more than her. She said he was becoming overloaded with the information he is receiving and needed me to close doors for him. (I know this sounds wierd, but until you have met my son and experienced things like this, you are never going to understand!)
I don't know how to close these doors (as I haven't got a clue about these matters), so i took my son to see her yesterday - NOT for a reading, just a chat with lots of other (alive) people in the room.
She held his hand and talked to him about what he could see and the 'dreams' he has. I knew she wasn't making it up - simply from the reaction of my son. He seemed relieved that someone could see the same as him and was talking to him on his level. He recalled 'dreams' to her, no problem.
I am so confused! I keep thinking I am going mad to be honest, but then I think of things my son has said and I know I am not.
I just want to find out more about it so that I can share it with my son. I don't want him to think he is mad when he gets older (he is 5 by the way).

Wow, well I suppose you just need to keep an open mind about everything and allow him to tell you about things, without focusing on it too much iykwim.

Found this link which seems to be a good explanation of it. I don't have any expert wisdom I'm afraid, just remember being v interested when I was younger. All very fascinating.

Thanks for the link - it's the least scary I have read so far!

ah bless and good on you for accepting his abilities fwiw, young children are often more gifted than we realise and often talk about people in their room. i used to have what i call flying dreams when i was younger and used to "travel" at will. that explains why i was known as a daydreamer!
