Does anyone really think that there would be no wars if there was no religion?

People keep blaming religion for war - there would be another reason. Perhaps there would be no war if there were no men.

Yes, and that is why the fact that religion is blamed is nonsense - it is human nature which encourages people to be passionate about a topic, and in some people this tips over into violence.

It is the fact that some people are so easily swayed into this kind of reaction that makes it easy to use religion, or nationalism, or football into an excuse for behaving in a tribal and violent way.

I always rub my hands with glee when we send off the latest batch of atheists to the gulag.

Hang on - is someone still trotting out that old line about Margaret Thatcher not really being a woman? All that 'well she had to act like a man' so a certain breed of feminists didn't have to deal with success from one of the enemy. Clearly from my earlier comment, I don't have to applaud her policies and actions in power, but can admire her spirit in getting to that level of power at all. But I guess doing that depends on being a supporter of a woman's right to be an individual personality as well as just a general right to have access to power as men do.
