Those of you in touch with your spiritual side, could you please help me with a question?

Sorry if this question sounds childish, but I am really struggling to find an answer and make sense of things.

Can someone explain to me why is it that life gives so many obstacles and difficulties to lovely good people who only deserve to be happy, while other people who are...well lets say, NOT very nice seem to go through life without a struggle?

It just doesn?t seem fair. Is there an answer to this?

EarthyMamma, are you around? Just wanted to say that your post was really lovely.

And Abbey, what a great analogy. With your permission I'd like to use it some day.

I really feel the need of impoving myself as a person (spiritually). If any of you can recommend a book to me, please let me know.

This is my first post on the forum and Ive been really interested to see what everyone has to say. I am a Christian (brought up in a christian home) any for many years I had all those questions, about is there more to life than this and Is there really a God, I wanted a personally faith, I didnt want to go along with what my parents thought. So I turned to what I knew best and started to study the bible and over time my questions were answered. Ive faced trials, hardships but in the end my faith in Jesus got me through it.

I am a pagan as I find my spirit responds to the natural world around me, the path of the Goddess has brought me great joy and peace though I still struggle with 'nasty' things!! It ties in with my feminism and eco awareness.

If this appeals read Starhawk's fiction www.starhawk.org/writings/fifth-sacred-thing.html

Her website www.starhawk.org/

This is a nice site re the Goddess

I hope you find a path to bring you comfort and a sense of how to deal with what life throws at us
Blessings grin

You requested people recommend books. Books can contain all sorts of messages and meanings, depending on your spiritual awareness, growth and current situation. One book I think of is Lynn Andrews, Medicine Woman, I have read that book about 5 times over the past 20 years. Each time I am amazed at the new angles and insights , what I gain from the book.

The book has not changed, but something inside me has changed in Spirit.

So what I am saying or recommending is going to a bookshop, having a browse in the Spiritual section, see what attracts you. You have liked what Earthymama has said, maybe Starhawks book might be of interest (been to a talk of hers btw , was disappointed in her, but her book I enjoyed years ago.)

Anthony (tony) Robbins is great for personal power, peak performance, positive attitudes. You asked about people who seem mean and get the best slice of life, Anthony Robbins may be good for you to see perspective about struggle vs success. As would be Dale Carnegie this page
Anthony Robbins here...

These are highly successful business people who sell their keys to success to millions of people, they use Spiritual stuff in a mostly non spiritual way to verse people in how to live their lives to the max!

hello with regards to the 'cruel selfish bullies' who seem to be swimming along happily.....i think if u scratch under the surface these people are deeply unhappy.
They have a pretence that they keep up for all of our benefits although in truth, they more than likely believe their own false self analysis most of the time. However there will be times when reality hits home ... they let their guard down and then the truth seeps in to the thought process without consent. At that point they know who they truly are and they choose whether to keep up the lie whereby they justify their cruel, selfish beahviour by blaming others or face the reality that their are aspects of themselves they don't like and wish to change.
Our thoughts do not require consent in order to be.....Our actions do!!
