Witchcraft and the like....

I'm not sure if this is the right topic - please feel free to boot me elsewhere if not!

I'm curious. I have been talking to a guy at dd's TKD class who has 7 children. He has 6 boys and a girl. When he and his wife had 5 boys, they went to Harley Street and paid thousands of punds for gender selection to have a girl. They got it wrong and they had boy #6. He was approached by someone he knows through his business and she told him that she could guarantee him a girl. He went for it. He was given 3 potions to drink of different colours - one of which contained Death Angel mushroom, and he therefore had to return to her at a specific time to drink a seperate potion to act as a kind of antidote to the mushroom.
Anyhow, his wife did a pregnancy test and it was negative. The lady rang the husband about a week later and told him that a girl was to be born and that his wife was now pregnant.

She was pregnant and they got their girl!

I asked him if they were white witches but he said no and seemed reluctant to say what they practiced. I've always been curious about things like this and wonder if anyone has any knowledge on this kind of thing?

White witches would definetly not do this. Sounds like black magic to me. Us white witches only do good spells. This would be interfering with nature. Makes very bad karma for the witch. I doubt it would have worked to be honest with you. Research suggests (at the moment) that it is the sperm that decides the sex of the baby, not the female.

this isn't witchcraft of any sort.

this is quackery and potentially very dangerous.

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:08

That's what I thought re white witches and that's what confused me!

He told another lady at the class that he is going to get her some kind of candle from his 'friend' to help with her migraines. I'm a bit wary of it all though!

he went and ingested concoctions made by a total stranger that could have been poisonous or illegal or made from protected species.

this guy sounds like a straight up fool, tbh.

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:12

He's known the woman and her sister for years through his business. He's an antiques dealer and was telling me that they own £0000's of relics etc to do with what they do, but wouldn't expand... hence my curiosity!

There are certain people of african/jamaican communities who practice magic that is not associated with witches. It sounds more like this to me. Some of these are very dangerous and out for money. It's worrying really. It can be very easy to get hooked into this, especially if he thinks that it works. It can be very costly.

expatinscotland · 27/06/2008 16:13

sounds dodgy as hell to me, zephyr. i'd cut him a wide berth, tbh.

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:17

That's what I'm thinking expat!

Tuesday should be interesting, he said he's going to bring in an oil portrait of the woman to show me what she's like. She gave it to him as a gift apparently. He wasn't charged for the potions either...

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 27/06/2008 16:19

Oh, I'm sure he didn't get those 'potions' for free, zephyr.

Truly this sounds very bizarre and I'd honestly give him a big steer.

This isn't anything you want to get involved in and there's no candle that's going to make migraines go away.

avenanap · 27/06/2008 16:20

Not yet anyway. A witch should always be paid something in exchange for their service as it can create bad energy for both. [Hmm]

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:22

Hmm strange.... I'll have to do a bit more interrogation I think.

I thought that about the payment as well avenanap.

agree with ave, and I for one have never done spells specifically to go against someones will or the laws of nature as it were.

were they gypsies maybe - i'd be worried about the after effects tbh.

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:37

I don't think gypsies...although having said that, when my friend mentioned that he was going to get her a candle from them I'm sure she referred to them as '***'s witch in the woods' :S

COme off it, these people are either out and out con artists (which TBH is the best outcome for your fuckwitted friend as con artists want the money and therefore do not want to harm the mug client) or they are barking mad. Like those loopy ministers who give women assorted drugs to 'cure' their infertility and basically present them with an abandoned/unwanted/purchased from a poor mother newborn and call it a miracle.

zephyrcat · 27/06/2008 16:39

On the other hand he says they are very wealthy women (there's two of them, twins) with very grand artefacts and relics.

It makes me wish I had learned all about this years ago...it's something I've always wanted to read into. (obviously not what they're doing but the whole thing)

i'm inclined in some ways to agree with mad, however this is dark what they're doing, and as far as I can see, you don't mess about with dark forces, or try to do anything to upset the balance of things.

I only suggest gypsies, as it's possible they have a long tradition of these things/history of it, perhaps the artifacts have been inherited, or perhaps they've been traded?

avenanap · 27/06/2008 16:47

Probably wealthy because they have conned alot of other people who were despirate for something.

There's still time to learn. Look on the web for a group that is local to you. The ones near me have coffee mornings in the pub .

madamez · 27/06/2008 16:59

COn artists are always wealthy, unless they are rubbish at it. It's feasible to make money out of any religion if you are a good con artist, or a lucky nutter (though if the latter, it won't last forever).
