Gift idea with biblical overtones?

I’m visiting my Aunt soon, she is in poor health.

As a devout Christian she lives a compassionate life, she is not judgemental and has always tried to practice the positive bible teachings.

I’m unsure when I will next see her and I would like to take a gift.
My first thought was something like a bible verse a day, however her eyesight is poor so it would have to be in large print.

I love her very much and I would like to give her something with meaning.

Does anyone have recommendations, please?

I think the mug is the best idea - could I suggest not getting the Psalm 23 one, in my head it is used at funerals so much she might think of that when she sees it!

Perhaps some Holy water from lourdes from amazon..

How about to a wood plaque sign, I got one for my dad and he keeps it in his living room and I one titled Faith at home to which I love.Link

How about to a Mother rose brooch as I have one and bought it on a retreat from their shop.in kent.

The Hannah Dunnett pictures are all lovely, I have just ordered one for her, thank you.

She has multiple holding crosses, I know that she would cherish the gift but I don’t want to land her with more stuff she won’t use.

Where we are S. England/E. England rosary beads are definitely not a Protestant thing.

@triballeader a shawl could be a very good idea, though I would prefer to discuss colours with her before I purchase, she may be ailing but she will always be stylish! Also, I would like to choose something that she cannot fall over, so nothing too large or difficult to remove.
I’ve sent her a lot of cards over the years, although I had never found Christian cards, I always write a psalm or a verse in them. I choose one which is appropriate to her/my current situation. She has kept dozens of them, which squeezes my heart when I think about it.

Funny isn’t it how life turns? The people who once looked after us and were there when we needed them, if we are fortunate enough to keep them, become the ones we care for?

@Abominableday 😆 actually that’s our sense of humour, though in this case I will choose something other than Psalm 23. Besides, the Lord is her Shepherd, that doesn’t need to be reaffirmed.
I’m a Christmas baby and even Carols/Christmas songs would be appropriate, she would understand immediately. Think the final verse of the Christina Rossetti In the Bleak Midwinter.

I’m wary of buying her a mug, if she broke it I know she would be very upset

A wooden plaque is good @Justmerach particularly as my DS is a carpenter and will make one himself, she will know it is made with love.

Do you have a link to the mother rose brooches, please?

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

A potted plant growing a vegetable like zucchini, herbs or cherry tomatos.
Hand made jam or relish from your local church hall or church stall.
Tea-towels with Bible verses.

@AbominabledayI know plenty of Anglicans that pray the rosary
@NannyRI would also choose a holding cross.

Hi beewho I went on a retreat last year to Aylesford Priory for a day trip and I got a Mother Mary rose brooch from the gift shop. I just love it. The faith wood plaque I got is in as well.
I will attach it the photo I took.

Hi OP, does your Aunt have a DAB radio?

If not this is a great gift that keeps on giving, as she could tune in to Premier Christian radio (they also have a dedicated praise channel) and UCB.
There are DAB radio’s available that have easier buttons for those with vision impairment.

Some DAB’s come with CD player and most have MP3 too, I used to visit a lovely lady who enjoyed listening to the talking bible (she was blind and unable to read written text) and helped her ordering them to use with her radio.

A triptych?

I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd add a few ideas from small Christian businesses in case anyone else finds it while looking for Christian gifts online, as I did.

  • Jordan Lily Designs makes gorgeous and carefully designed silver jewellery.
  • And Hope Designs has some "holy tea towels" featuring the names of Jesus and another with words of our identity in Christ.
  • Hope & Ginger has some scripture verse card sets in a tin for encouragement, hope, Christmas, Psalms, and Proverbs (maybe others, too).
  • By the Brooke Creations has some really sweet pocket mirrors with scripture and words of encouragement on the outside.
  • MansMade makes lovely wooden blocks with scripture and things like that on them - she also takes commissions.
  • CM Creations hand letters on wood and fabric, also taking commissions.
If you're looking for something personal, unique and made with love and care by a Christian locally!

Maybe a crossstitch kit with a biblical quotation. Or a book of bible readings and discussion
