How do you celebrate the pagan festivals?

Hi everyone,

I've had a near-lifelong interest in paganism and, over the last few years, have been making a more conscious effort to celebrate the festivals throughout the wheel of the year. I've been finding it a brilliant way to feel grounded and connected to both the world around me, the passing of time, and how those two things combine in nature. I've celebrated Midsummer and Yule the past couple of years, and the local equivalent of Samhain. For the first time this year I've celebrated Lughnasadh/Lammas by baking bread and eating it with fresh honey, and taking the time to cold-brew some tea to serve alongside it. I know my celebrations aren't particularly big or fancy, as none of my family are pagan, but I try to do little things with intention and consideration for each festival.

That said, as a relatively new pagan with no family history and only a few pagan friends, I'd love to hear more about how different people celebrate the festivals! I know such things are often quite personal, but I'd really like some more ideas to include in my own celebrations as I honour the progression of the year.

Little things like you mention.

I don't identify as pagan but like you find marking dates like to summer & winter solstice help me to feel connected to nature and helps me find some peace in the cyclical year.

At midsummer I like to go for an evening walk to reflect and enjoy the hills near where I live.
Haven't yet established a consistent way of marking midwinter so I'm interested in ideas.
Often I like to put something extra out for the birds because they have so little then, sometimes I read some nature poetry or look at art.

this is exactly what I seek to do. How do you mark the other festivals?

We mark the winter solstice by climbing a nearby mountain on the longest night of the year, to watch the sunrise.
I've had thoughts about creating traditions for other points on the wheel but haven't done anything about it yet. I think walking, hiking, swimming, sleeping in the wild will be the theme, though.
