Baptism Gift Ideas

I’m hoping someone here can help! My friend’s family are RC, and she has recently had a baby girl and is having a baptism. They’re having it in Ireland so we won’t be going to it, but I’d like to get something for the baby. For reference, the parents are not practicing at all, and I am not religious at all! I suspect the RC family members will have bought all of the traditional gifts! What should I get? Baby is about 4 months old.

A hard back children's poetry book or children's classic. There are lots of lovely copies available with beautiful illustrations.
Something like a mobile but more arty than Peppa piggy.
Silver stuff is traditional but doesn't get used.
If you are really close perhaps a decent child's necklace for when she is a bit older.
I'd leave Bibles, rosaries, medallions and crosses to the Godparents and practicing family members

Agree that in those circumstances, I'd get a book.

Seconding the book option, it's appropriate and respectful. My SIL was invited to christening as she was allowed to bring her camera to take some pictures, so she made a cute slideshow 3d video with these photos as a gift, but not everyone wants to have a photographer on the occasion, much less if you weren't specifically asked!

Honestly, for a 4-month-old, we got a simple trusou botez for a cousin’s baby once, even though we’re not religious. The parents weren’t into it, but it ended up being super cute and useful—soft blanket, little outfit, some keepsakes.
