Church flowers

This is a bit of a random one, and not sure I’m in the right topic, but, has anyone experience in doing flowers for CofE regular Sunday services?

It looks like I’ll be doing the flowers on occasion, and I’m wondering is there specific colours I should be using or avoiding depending on the church calendar etc? Someone who used do the flowers always insisted Communion services required white flowers for example!

I'm Catholic and we have different colours for liturgical seasons - purple for Advent and Lent, pink for Gaudete Sunday, green for "Ordinary Time", red for Holy Week, white/gold for Christmas and Easter. I wonder if the Anglican church is the same? There are certainly liturgical seasons when a Catholic church wouldn't have flowers at all. I hope you find it fun and rewarding to do.

I really, really hope that this is a wonderful experience for you. Flower Guilds can be...ermmm a little brutal and territorial. I hope this isn't the case for you.

Do check with your church on their eco policies. For example, ours does not allow any floral foam and flowers have to be UK sourced.
