Catholic Baptism and godparents

I'm getting my two DS baptised in a Catholic church, one is 5 one a few months old .

I'm really struggling finding godparents who have been confirmed . All of the godparents I have selected have been baptised in a Catholic church , but none confirmed. And rules state at least one god parent for each must be confirmed.

Has anyone been in this situation before ? I think the only way around it is asking people to get confirmed but I feel that's a big ask.

Just use one godparent for both children.

I googled - because we encountered this too. It’s not easy to find people who fulfil these requirements
In Catholic Church it’s desirable to have two confirmed and practicing Catholics, male and female. But you could have a Catholic godparent and a non Catholic witness.

I even checked for two non Catholic godparents (sorry no 4 child), and that doesn’t invalidate the baptism.

Its preferable because the idea is to help the child grow in faith. But I’ve not seen any of that happen in my own childhood or my children’s.

Maybe check with your priest.

Or another idea could be to ask someone you know from Church, and also someone who is friend or family.

The catechists who run the baptism course will stand in in my parish if there is no one available.

Thanks, it's difficult isn't it . All of the godparents are baptised in the church just not confirmed .

My Mum and dad are both confirmed, they are the only people I know I think.

I'm going to call the church now and ask .

We had one confirmed Catholic for each child and one non-Catholic for each. The only requirement was a Christian baptism ( the two non-Catholics were CofE). We are godparents and the CofE was more strict!

Your parents could do it if they’re both confirmed.

I’d ask your parents, one of my kids has their grandparent as a godparent.

Thats lovely. I wish we had done that

Ask your mum and dad.

One for each child plus whatever number of extras you want.
