Is anyone a Quaker?

I really miss a connection to God and a 'church' but I haven't found it in Anglican churches here (south west). I was raised in Scotland and went to church with my grandparents and loved the experience and the community. I was a child though.
I'm now mid 50s and want a connection beyond me and have been reading through some of the Protestant alternatives. I know I don't resonate with Baptists for example but the inner light of the Quakers kind of speaks to me.
Does anyone have suggestions for where to start beyond my local Anglican Church?

My mother was a Quaker and I attended meetings with her when I was younger. I loved the silence. It was like meditation and I think it would benefit anyone in this high speed, high tech world.

I agree with its beliefs and lack of rigidity.

(Having said that I also enjoy the "rituals" of a C of E communion service.)

I try to live by its tenets and be a "good" person.

Sadly there is no meeting house anywhere near where I live.

Thank you @CharlotteStreetW1 that's lovely to hear. We do have a meeting house and I'm very tempted to go along.

Oh do!

I’m a Quaker. Do go along.

My mum is and I grew up going to a Quaker version of Sunday School. Go along. There’s lots of nice people who tend to be very friendly and often very left leaning politically, if that’s your thing.

My family in my mother’s side are quakers so I’ve been to meetings. They’re very calming, reflective. Quakers are generally very gentle souls, very kind. It’s a tranquil way to worship I think.

I've had ads on Facebook about it.. have signed up for more information..

Oh this is fab thank you. I am very anti conflict, always preferred to smooth things over, avoid gossip etc etc and left leaning.

I’m a Quaker. Do try a meeting and see if it’s for you. Happy to answer any questions you might have, as best I can

Thank you @SeasideRock I want to stay within Christianity and I'd like to be 'allowed' to celebrate events with my family like Christmas even if just secular wise. The inner light really resonates with me, I like yoga and mindfulness and I have an inate belief in God that Anglicanism hasn't been the answer to

There’s lots of different ways of being a Quaker in my experience. I ended up here because mainstream Christianity didn’t work for me, but like you I loved, and still love the concept of that of god in everyone. I’ve been involved for over 16 years now, and am a member. There’s a very good book by Geoffrey Durham called Being a Quaker you might find a helpful intro? But just popping song to your cos meeting house is an option. There’s always someone to greet newcomers (in a very non-pushy way).

I have been to meetings and found them very calming. My sister joined an active group at one time but moved away and didn’t find a group she gelled with as well. I have a friend who is a very active Quaker. I have been thinking about going back.

Sheila Hancock is well know for being an active Quaker and I saw her being interviewed about it a couple of weeks ago on TV. She spoke very passionately about what it meant to her in her life.

@AmazingGraze how coincidental - I adore SH, she's my favourite actor. @SeasideRock thank you I will order the book. I'm keen to try something that seems to resonate.
