A "condensed" bible? Or...?

I would like to know more about bible stories but I really don't want to read the whole bible.
The reason being like anything I have gaps in my knowledge and would like to fill them. For example, the other day dh and I were chatting about an artwork we were viewing (it was a Last Supper type painting) and we were talking about the disciples and who was who. And it was all a bit murky in my memory.

So, any good ideas? Old and New Testament.
TIA

A good children's Bible ( there are even graphic versions ) or Gods Big picture by Vaughan Roberts, or the E100 gives 100 short readings to give an overview. It's hard to understand law, art literature etc without some knowledge of bible stories. Hope you find it interesting and it sparks plenty of discussion.

Also, consider listening to it being read, rather than reading it all yourself.

I listen to readings by David Suchet daily while I do other things around the house or if I can’t sleep (although his voice is so lovely I often drop off 🙂).

He recorded the whole Bible, book by book some time ago. They are all available on YouTube.

Here’s a more recent recording of him reading John’s Gospel in Westminster Abbey.

Don't know if it would be of interest to you, but I just mentioned a new to me podcast on another thread; its called Heart Dive and its a daily bible study. There's bound to be loads of others on there that might be more specific to what you want.
Have you had a look around a Christian bookshop? You're bound to find a book that speaks to you.

In terms of art, I think there is a greater focus on the New Testament. So if you want to go straight to the source, the shortest gospel is Mark.

Thanks again!

You could try a daily missal. It's divide up into more manageable chunks.

So many great suggestions. Thanks again
