If you converted to Christianity from another religion what made you convert?

was there something specific you experienced or read etc?

I grew up with a dad who was a satanist and as an adult I have become a Christian and just interested to hear why other people converted from other religions?

I converted to Catholicism from atheism after having an encounter with God's love. I continue to experience the love of God in my Christian faith through prayer, sacraments and community. It completely changed my life as I realized I couldn't continue as I was once I believed. I was very hard hearted, extremely tough and streetwise. I thought I had it all together and was very mature and could deal with anything. Once I had that first encounter I realized it was all a charade and in fact I was very fearful of being vulnerable and instead of toughness I had just erected walls around myself.

This is really interesting, what kind of encounter was it?

thank you for sharing - it can be really hard to be open and vunerable with religion I have realised. Your story really resonates with me. What made you feel Catholicism was the right choice over Christianity? (Appreciate it’s a sect of Christianity so hope my question makes sense).

:)

It's where I experience God. Where I experience the love, peace and mercy of God. It was the only community I wanted to join after my first experience. It made the most sense and was also extremely beautiful to me and still is. Catholicism is like Lucy entering Narnia. It's parallel with our world and always there but we need grace to find the door in, like she did at the back of the wardrobe. Nothing can be the same afterwards.

I like your description of a new life in Christ. I think it applies to most if not all Christians who have experienced God.

I was raised a Catholic and always knew God was real but I never experienced His presence in the way I did when I was born again in 2020. I call myself a Christian now.

@GodLogic to answer your OP. I came to God as an addict who had committed some serious sins. I was depressed, addicted, and was on the verge of yet another mental breakdown. God met me at my darkest hour. I was desperate for help but thought i'd tried everything. And my initial search for shamanic practices eventually led me to a Christian deliverance ministry who guided me back to the Lord. I could talk about that profound experience for hours!

And given your father's practices I praise the Lord all the more that you glorify His name!
