Where do you think Lazarus went?

The story of Lazarus being raised was our reading this week. I must admit I find it unsettling. Where (spiritually) was Lazarus while his body was in the tomb?

He didn’t go anywhere. The repeated stories in the bible re resurrection are a repetition of the same theme. The breaking down of the lower self and rising in christ consciousness

It is of course allegorical , but many christians are blind literalists, and will never see the inner, higher, veiled path to gnosis.

Modern learned scholars have revealed from deciphering ancient scrolls how after Jesus “raised Lazarus from the dead”, that they spent 6 days together and that Jesus instructed Lazarus (brother of Mary the Magdalene) in “the ways of the kingdom of heaven” including spending a sleepless night together in their nakedness.

It is also worth noting, as have others, that nowhere in the gospels is homosexuality frowned upon, let alone condemned. The same cannot be said of adulterous sex.

Disapproval or criticism by christians of same-gender sexuality was invented by saint Paul long after the death of Jesus.

In one gnostic text Jesus says “where I shall be, there will also be my twelve ministers. But Mary the Magdalene and John the Virgin, will tower over all my disciples and over all men who shall receive the mysteries… and they will be on my right hand and on my left”.

“John the Virgin” is often referred to as “John the Beloved” or “John the Evangelist” and was the youngest of the apostles. Modern scholars have speculated that “John the Beloved” was Lazarus, brother of the Magdalene.

It is widely accepted that the mother of “John the Beloved” was Salome, sister to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Therefore the awkward conclusion is that Mary the Magdalene and Lazarus/John, who were both participants in Jesus’ sacred sex rites were also his cousins.
