Not really good on call and response, but Be Still and Know that He is Lord is nice and easy - have you got music for that

bossykate · 22/11/2007 14:29

eek i have no music and even if i did wouldn't help me much as my sight reading is at the biff and chip level.

so it will have to be something i already know...

i'm torn between the butterfly song (yuk yuk yuk) and a simple call and response gloria which goes with a swing.

thanks anyway!

Not.....the Peruvian Gloria

bossykate · 22/11/2007 14:37

er, dunno, but think it is my best bet. or we will keep it simple and just recite the our father.

Do you want me to ring and sing bk (take that as a kindly offer or a horrid threat, as you will)

bossykate · 22/11/2007 16:09

oh yes, marina, that would be delightful!

If you put me on speakerphone, prepare to regret it for the rest of your life

Kum ba yah

My children (aged 8 and 6) love Taize chants. Last year, when I had to take a Taize service, I spent a fair amount going ones on the website, and they were singing along to them as well!

Down the left hand side is an option "learn the songs", where you can play them back.

Bless the Lord my Soul is a lovely one:

Obviously not all of them are in English, but they are so simple even the smallest children can learn.

We do Bless the Lord regularly MaryBS, it is lovely isn't it

bossykate · 24/11/2007 11:37

kum by yah as if!

i love that "bless the lord". and best of all your link has the music (audible not just written!). thank you

how many repeats do you think? a couple to learn it and a couple singing it?

tia

I would say 2 practice, 3 singing. It doesn't take very long.

bossykate · 26/11/2007 10:08

thank you very much for this suggestion, much appreciated

Glad to be of use! Did you use it yesterday? If so, how did it go down?

Its worth spending some time going them, so many of them are so beautiful, and so simple.

Marina - yes, I love that one too. I think "Per Crucem" is one of my favourites.

bossykate · 27/11/2007 17:49

i wasn't brave enough to do it on my own without accompaniment without more practice but i will circulate to the other members of the team so we can all learn it and not feel so exposed singing in public! thank you very much for this suggestion - i'm sure i will get tons of browny points for this
