The old thread was nearly full, so here is a new one. Oldies and newbies, chat or prayer, all welcome.

Praying especially for MHD and JanFeb’s daughter.
Also praying for all who are preparing Holy Week/Easter services.

I can only imagine that its a long way from being 'ok' for your family @Camgirl. At least she's in a safe place for now though & hopefully with decent professionals around her. Is there anything you can do to look after you, now you've come down from 'high-alert'?

@52andblue well yes of course it is far from ok. She took an overdose 3 weeks ago too so we have kind of been living on high alert since then. Add in the complication of her not wanting us to know anything and it's been heartbreaking. Thankfully the police were very helpful and kept us informed as next of kin this time. My husband and I have had a nap each so that's helped as we didn't sleep last night really. Also last night the 2 kittens we adopted were brought round from the rescue centre. They are adorable so have been keeping our focus too

Ah, I'm sorry. My ds took an o/d 18m ago as a result of bullying. It was a one off (fingers crossed) but I'll prob never forget that fear so I've some (small) idea of what you mean xx The kittens sound like a good distraction :)

I'm sorry @52andblue. It's an awful thing to see your child in distress like that. But yes the fear is insurmountable at first. Praying that is your only encounter with that kind of thing. Yes they are. They are very sweet. Not sure my existing cat is very impressed by his new siblings though! xx

52andblue you have such a lot to cope with. I hope you do get to see your partner and also your mum. Know that God is with you at your side throughout- it might help to visualise that.
I have been praying for you. Do keep us updated.

Thank you so much @Meadowblossom. That's very kind of you. I'm better now I know she has been found. It was worse last night when we knew they had the police helicopter, coastguard and lifeboat out. They were just preparing to release a press release as an appeal this morning when she approached the transport police. I'm thankful that God answered prayer for her and us. To be honest, the longer it went on the more I expected the worst.

Can I ask for prayers? There has been a build up over the last few years of difficult situations in my life: bereavement, illness, and other things and I feel like I'm drowning. I've started having panic symptoms and feel continually on edge and unrested. I believe in God, though I don't have a particular creed or clear concept of what god actually means, but I so want to believe there is a loving presence who is beside me. I don't even know what I'm asking for really. Peace I think. Inner calm. And strength to face the things life seems to be throwing at me.

Hello all I have not been on this thread for ages but found my way back as I sometimes see an active religion thread and follow it to the board.

I want to say hello to 52andblue and calmgirl, sorry for your troubles and a prayer for your sick friend/mum and dd respectively. Hi also to meadowblossom and prayer for your dad. Praying also for becca.

So much sadness to pray for. I'm sorry I've not caught up with the whole thread.

Lent is nearly upon us. Has anyone got any plans or intentions to mark it? I am looking forward to it to try and revive my flagging spiritual life. All do is work and family stuff. Am worn down. Still listening to the bible every day but prayer life lacking and concerns are more worldly than Christ like.

Hi to Betty carver. A prayer for you too. I post and then end up spotting your last comment. It seems you have been dealt an especially bad hand lately. The hope is that God walks with you in tough times and gives you what you need to get through. My experience has been that in spite of the fact that we are small and fleeting in the universe, God does seem to be personally interested in us and for that I would trust your sense that he is with you.

Hello Bettycarver and welcome. Sometimes the best way to get into a relationship with God is to sit still and just talk to Him as you would to a friend.
Say: “Here I am and I don’t know which way is up” Sit still and listen to what comes into your mind. Don’t ty to make an image of God or get Him to conform to what you think He should be. If you can, read through one of the gospels, Luke or Mark are good starting points. Read as much as your concentration will let, you a verse, a chapter, a book at the time.
Zenudist you have been missed, glad you are back. I don’t know about special Lent readings. I will be in a lent group from church which starts on the 7th March. With church opening up (restrictions are being lifted) there is already so much going on that I don’t know how much extra I can add,

That's helpful, it feels freeing. I think I've been trying to understand what God is and that's perhaps been restricting me from feeling open

I’m glad that was helpful BettyCarver. God promises that He will be found by those who seek Him, but He is far too great for us to ever understand Him You have had such a lot to cope with, I do hope you will find some peace when you feel God’s love surrounding you.

I am in such turmoil myself that all I can do at the moment is to shove all concerns (including my own) into God’s direction and say: “Here You are God, I am at the end of my tether, You deal with it, bacause You are better at it than I am. Amen”
