Meeting someone born on same day

highlighta · 14/11/2020 20:16

I am hoping that someone could give me their thoughts on this please.

A few weeks ago I went out, very spur of the moment and not something i would normally do. A friend and I were sitting outside and we had to move inside as it started to rain. We sat at a table but I instantly noticed one of the two men that were now sitting at the table next to our new one. This in itself surprised me, as having coming through not such a good divorce, i really do not notice people, don't think about new relationships or meeting anyone else.

We did get talking to them, and then it turns out that this guy and I were born on the same day and the same year, I am just a few hours older than him. We did hit it off well, and swapped numbers so that we could wish each other happy birthday next year.

The thing is, since then, I just cannot get this guy off my mind. Every day since then, there have been these strange coincidences that have happened, it seems like the universe isn't letting me forget about him. Small things like I keep hearing his name, I keep seeing what looks like his car, I drove past a advert sign for his business that I never noticed before, the song came on the radio of the one we were talking about, I got a new customer who lives in a place we were discussing, just many different general odd coincidences like this.

I don't want to message him as he is married, but he did tell me that he is getting seperated (I have been around the block so not sure I believe that one), But I just cannot get him out of my head. I have no clue if he felt that instant connection that i did, and I cannot ask him either.

So because I cannot ask him, I will ask here if anyone believes that there can be some sort of connection with a birth twin, if I can use that term. This is the first time I have ever met anyone born the same day and year as me, so I don't know if this is a factor and I am just overthinking the whole thing. It was so very bizzare though. I have never before felt so drawn to someone as I was to him.

Or do I just need to get a grip and get out more.

I went to school with a birth twin. I never felt any kind of connection as a result although we were in the same friendship group.
Personally I don't think it means anything.

33goingon64 · 14/11/2020 20:24

My brother and his wife were born on the same day.

StillWeRise · 14/11/2020 21:14

it means nothing
if you were in a happy relationship, you would not have noticed all these coincidences- they still would have happened but they would have meant nothing to you- 'I got a new customer in a place he was discussing'- that isn't really even a coincidence.
My advice would be - set yourself a reminder for your birthday text him then and not before. Meanwhile fill your life with lots of other interesting things and people (difficult in a pandemic I know) and don't think about him any more.

Thanks for the replies.

I think perhaps I'm seeing more into this than there is, not sure why I have been so fixated on the birthday thing.

I think he has lit a fire in you and this is the source of all the 'coincidences'. I never noticed pregnant women until I was pregnant, then suddenly they were everywhere. I never noticed a certain car, until I bought one then I was sitting them all the time.
He's just on your mind, you clicked, which is a rare enough feeling for it to be really nice when it happens.
It doesn't mean the universe is telling you something.
You don't want to get involved with someone who is not yet disentangled from their previous relationship, if for no other reason than it would pollute the beautiful thing (if it is a beautiful thing).
If the connection is truly there it will still be there in a year when you send your text, if he is paying company with his wife that will be much clearer then too.
Make yourself live your best life meanwhile, so when he comes into your life again you are ready. Comfort yourself meanwhile that at least you have his number for a birthday text so it isn't impossible for you to meet again.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 15/11/2020 06:51

Don't message him. He is married.

highlighta · 15/11/2020 08:52

I'm not going to message him, hence me posting here instead.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced similar, but I see now it's probably just an infatuation with a coincidence thrown into the mix.

I appreciate the replies. I do feel rather silly right now and not the fairly sensible middle aged person I usually am.

Don't feel silly, it's a lovely feeling to meet someone who connects to us in a meaningful way, you would have to be made of stone for this not to have enlivened your mind to things which share a link to him. How wonderful to have that frisson of attraction.
Happily, this occasion has shown you that the potential of new and interesting people are not a closed chapter. Maybe your paths will cross again, maybe he was just a forerunner to a new phase of your life ushering in a sense of yourself as a whole person full of possibilities and what you might - romance or non-romance - do with it.
Given your recent divorce and the scars from that, isn't it marvellous that side of you is still alive and kicking. Flowers

Thank you Chickens, your post has hit home more than you will know.

I have had a very closed off from life attitude, and to be honest if I think it about it, I've been quite negative.

I still cannot get this chap off my mind, but yes, it's opened up something in me that I thought was dead in the water.

Thanks again for pointing out a different angle to this very odd, yet amazing experience.

I'm 100% not spiritual in any way but the first person fell in love with - 30 years ago now - turned out to have the same date of birth and place as me. I fell for them before I knew this and to date was the strongest most instant love of my life. Sadly we are no longer together but had the most intense relationship and I always thought the bond between us was connected with our birth date being shared. Was a freaky thing to find out ages after we had declared our love for each other!

Bunnymumy · 16/11/2020 18:19

Met someone born on the same day but one tear out. He was a massive bellend. Full blown overt narcissist.

Maybe I'm a bellend too haha.
But I'm not a narc.

Sorry op but even if it meant you were similar people, so what? Do you think if you were a guy, you would want to date yourself?

Clymene · 16/11/2020 18:23

Who mentioned their birthday first? Because I wouldn't put it past a married man on the pull to lie.

It's weird isn't it...

The birth date thing only came out later in the evening, but the intensity was definitely there before finding this out.

There was a girl at school with whom I shared my birth date. She was pleasant enough but we didn't have anything in common and were acquaintances rather than friends.

ChickensMightFly · 16/11/2020 18:35

I'm glad you liked my post. Wish you well for the future, and why not, who knows what it may hold. ☺️

highlighta · 16/11/2020 18:36

@Clymene

I asked him because he said he had had a lockdown birthday and so had I. So asked him the month, was the same, the day, the same and then the year. We swapped drivers licences as I don't think he really believed me either. He then asked what time I was born, I said I didn't know. So he asked could I message my mum and he would his to find out the times. Which we did. And then our mums both replied at exactly the same time 😀.

I went to school with a couple of people born the same day.

This is not a connection thing, this is a crush thing

Clymene · 16/11/2020 18:38

Fair enough. He's hitting on you though and if you're just through a difficult divorce, maybe you've got caught up in some magical thinking.

ChickensMightFly · 16/11/2020 18:41

That does sound romantically meant to be. Would be a rubbish storyline in a novel... Too neat 😆😆
Can see why you are feeling a whirl. But... Too many unknowns to place much on it. Flowers
Good fantasy material though. 😁

This is the first time I have ever met anyone born the same day and year as me

It may be the first time you've knowingly met anyone born the same day and year as you but I'm pretty sure there were people with the same birth date as you in your year at school or university, given that in a random group of 70 people there's 99.9% probability that two share a birthday. Even in a group of only 23 people the probability's 50%.

It feels so wrong but it's real. It's called the birthday paradox.
