Greenbelt 2020 - is anyone 'going?'

Just that really. We haven't been for a few years for cost and logistical reasons. But this year we don't even have to leave the house. We only actually want to watch Folk On and Johnny and the Baptists.
I can't wait! I think we will wear our usual festival headbands and hats and wellies indoors for the genuine experience Grin

Yes - we're going. Wild at Home from Belgium!

Oh wow. From Belgium! Do you usually attend in person?
Is there anything you are particularly looking forward to?

Yes - we usually make it over for the festival - it's definitely my spiritual home. I'm still getting to grips with the programme - need to get myself organised . Was hoping to camping this weekend with green belt friends but the weather looks terrible.

You'll have a good time, the weather is going to improve over the weekend too.

I always felt like I was 'home" when I got there. Although less so when they moved to Boughton. I found it unsettling not knowing where everything was.

Yes I went to Greenbelt today! Well this afternoon. Which is pretty much what happens when I'm actually there!
Did you go to Beer and Hymns. I don't usually go on site but loved it tonight as they showed so many participants on screen who could then wave at people!
Quite glad I'm not camping tbh - it's freezing!

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/08/2020 00:47

No I didn't make it to beer and hymns because we wanted to see Johnny and the Baptists and they clashed sadly.
I've never been to beer and hymns on site either as the DC have always been too young. Grin

we were at Beer & Hymns and it was amazing. I got quite teary. it was done on zoom and was set up to broadcast the sound and occasional footage from B&H of previous onsite versions but mostly the video stream was set to broadcast a few seconds from eat participating household and it was such a wonderful community feel.

only half an hour of it, sadly, so it didn't clash with Jonny & the Baptists at all (though we watched J&tB during our post-beer pizza eating and weren't that impressed)

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/08/2020 00:59

We were going to do half an hour of beer and hymns but would have meant getting laptop out again to use zoom and decided it was too much hassle.
I've seen J&tBs live. Sadly the weird buffering thing it was doing was during our favourite song Sad

We used to be regulars up until DS was about 18 months. The following summer DD was placed with us as a baby and after that it just got logistically (two small DCs means no evening stuff) and then behaviourally (DS has SEN and behavioural issues) difficult.
I know people who go regularly and their DCs have friends who they look forward to seeing so I guess there's more point for them.
