Magpie clarification please

Hello all,

One of my cats unfortunately killed a magpie and left it for me to find.

They obviously need a bigger bell on their collar.

I can’t find clarification anywhere for the symbolism of a dead magpie. As it’s considered bad luck to see a single one I take it this probably isn’t good news?

The closest I came to finding any clarification is that a dead bird is considered to be ‘the end of something,’ whether that is physically death or metaphorical is however apparently up for debate.

Confused Does anyone know more? Am I being silly or would you have the heebie-jeebies too?

well, i always think you have to look at things in the best way possible. in the old rhyme, one for sorrow.... maybe it's the death of sorrow? the end of something sad or bad? try to look on the positive and not focus on the negative. The end of a cycle. But with endings always come new beginnings!

I am secretly hoping that magicmallow. I just didn’t want to say. I’ve already felt quite blue and like everything’s been a struggle for a little while.

get the bell, you'll be fine. sounds like you need some positive upliftingness. can you do something nice for yourself at all? Buy yourself a little treat to lift your vibe!? best of luck

I don't really do symbolism, but if your cat managed to catch a magpie the chances are it was sick and in its last legs anyway. So try not to feel to bad about it ... but get that louder cat bell!

It is one for sorrow but technically I would say it's not your sorrow, you never killed it.
Maybe your cat might have even have found it dead and brought it home as a present.
Lots of birds die when it's warm out. X

Bad luck for the magpie.

Don't let your ca tout hungry. A full belly calms the hunting instinct.

I would second the symbolism of death of sorrow. Death often symbolises the closing of one chapter in life. In tarot it is a sign of change and new growth - a positive sign.

Take a look at this website for bird symbolism.

Magpies are strong birds so that one was probably already dead or very unwell for a cat to have brought it in. When our cat had a fever he lay down under the apple tree and two magpies danced round him in a circle, mocking him!

Thank you ladies. I have felt better for the past two days until this this morning.

They caught and killed another magpie this morning. Woke us up. Three other magpies around it wailing and having a funeral. Three crows also. Very sad.

They are very well fed. It’s one particular cat. She doesn’t actually eat them. Just leaves them for me.

Off to pets at home today to get the biggest bell I can find for her collar.

There are millions of birds in the world, and all of them are going to die some day. It has no meaning beyond the fact that everything that lives, also dies.

Just make sure you salute the dead magpie, and you'll be fine.
