Learning more about Christianity

I was raised as a Christian and am practicing now after a long time away. I want to learn more about Anglicanism/the Bible from a reliable source for commentary on it.
Are there any recommendations please?

Back in the days when I was in the same situation (20 years ago!!) and there weren’t many good websites, I bought a copy of the “life application study bible”. It was good for getting things into context, showing the bigger picture and helping me to apply it practically rather than just as an intellectual exercise. It isn’t great detail, but enough for me at that stage.

Nowerdays I tend to read more specialist books (actually, being truthful, I just store them on my table while I deal with the kids and mess around on mumsnet). I really should get my study bible out again. I’m sure someone will know an online equivalent, and I’d like to know one too.

Also “The bible” app by you version is good, but I haven’t looked for commentary style studies in it.

The Alpha Course is fantastic. Friendly, local and a great place to explore questions!

Also the Bible in One Year app as a way of learning every day. :)

Glad you enjoyed that Zen, it's great isn't it!

Also wanted to suggest Alpha and YouVersion app.

Gotquestions.org is a good website for any random questions about Christianity.

Tom Wright's commentaries are very good, there is one for each book of the new testament. He also does a great podcast "ask NT Wright anything" which tackles theology and scripture questions in easy to understand half hour sections.
If you are going to church, I would highly recommend asking about joining a house group/Bible study group. I've learnt a lot through being part of a house group over the years. One study we did recently was "the Bible course", I think it was produced by the Bible society - it gives you a good overview of the Bible as a whole, who wrote the books, who they were for and how it all fits together and how it's still relevant today.

Get your hands on Good News Bible, or any modern English translation. Do not get a bible written in old English language...why? Two reasons....You do not speak in the old English language...No one does. Two...And this is extremely important...You are not dealing with a mere human being. If you think reading and speaking in the old English language will impress GOD, you are sadly mistaken.

If GOD came and spoke to you right now, would he speak in the old English language ways?? So know who you are dealing with.

The bible made it clear...People who make long prayers, or who can memorize passages of text, or who dress up in there fine robes, do not impress GOD. Only those who do what GOD requires will impress him...why? Because doing...not speaking or acting...but doing, his will is very hard, but it can be done.
