Soft Agnostic

I see myself as a soft Agnostic I don't believe in God or the supernatural element that may be associated with God neither can I say that God doesn't exist either. I believe in what I can see, hear, smell, eat and touch around me and therefore I believe in Science as it's living proof.

I am not an Atheist as they don't believe in any Gods and they believe that there is no supernatural world and when you die you get buried and that's it lights out forever. I don't see how that can be said without any proof!

I am not a hard Agnostic either as they believe that no gods or supernatural world can be proven at all. That differs slightly from a soft Agnostic who say that Gods and the supernatural element can't be proved how can it however softies say they are more open and willing to explore this if believers can provide me with any hard evidence or show me something then I might be a believer. A softie is happy to explore the possibilities more than hardies.

I don't buy into Christians who claim to be in touch with God and what happens after death how can they? And I don't buy into staunch non believers who want to smash what Christians believe in how can they? I suppose you can say that I sit on the fence and can only watch Science happen before me and I will embrace Christian beliefs with interest if they can show me otherwise.

Atheists don't "claim" anything, so no proof required. Some may believe in the afterlife, some not. Some may believe in the supernatural, others dont'

The only criteria for being an atheist is the lack of or rejection of the idea that god exists.

Nothing more. Athiests have no "belief" and therefore nothing to prove.

What would you accept as hard evidence though? Most of this stuff is experiential.

I have a hard science background (physics) but I’ve experienced things that I cannot explain scientifically. This may change in the future but at the current level of knowledge leaves them inexplicable other than from the Divine

If someone asked my if there was an Acacia Avenue in my town, I'd say "I've lived here 30 years, and never seen or heard of it, and it's a small town. So no, I'm pretty sure there isn't. I suppose it's possible I've missed it but I really don't think so." That's agnostic.

If someone asked me if there was a road in my town with a portal that took you directly on to the surface of Jupiter, I'd say "don't be so ridiculous, of course not." That's atheist.

Now I can't prove there isn't a portal to the surface of Jupiter in my town, but it's not my job, someone has to prove there is. And although I don't know there isn't for certain, it seems so daft that it's not worthy of serious consideration.

That's how I feel about god(s), and that's why I'm an atheist.
