Reincarnation and religions that believe in it?

I am searching for some advice or guidance. I thought I had found what I was looking for with Tibetan Buddhism, particularly to do with animal reincarnation but are there other religions or beliefs that I could be looking at?

It seems so complicated and apart from David Michie (discovered a few years ago) I haven't found anything that really helped without confusion.

At this point I am finding it difficult to clear my head and concentrate so I do need uncomplicated reading to get me started and any help would be appreciated.

Anything coming from Hinduism has some consideration of moksha, liberation - freeing yourself from the eternal cycle of re-birth.

Eknath Easwaran's version of the Bhagavad Gita is very accessible, reincarnation isn't its main focus but it does reference it so might be a starting point.

But - the point of all these philosophies is to avoid reincarnation, it doesn't sound as though that's what you're looking for...

That is true, I am interested in reincarnation, not avoiding it. For me personally I would like to be free of the cycle, however I had read that animals experience reincarnation which started me looking for information.

I thought I had found what I was looking for with Tibetan Buddhism,

The only thing grown adults should be looking for is the truth. I'd start with a general science book, that deals with the creation of the Earth, the origins of life and the circle of life and how the planet works.

I suspect you'll find this infinitely more satisfying, and far more wondrous, than any religion.

Agree, it is interesting, however I am looking for something else, spiritual, things to compare. I have a need to know how others think and believe, not just because they are born into it, but from choice.

There is a whole trench of books, websites, courses out there that aim to blend western consumerism and individualism with Eastern mysticism. There can be a notion of the higher self which chooses the lessons it wishes to learn in each incarnation. This is a very long way away from the faith traditions it is borrowing from. If you are interested in Hinduism then go along to a temple to find out more. If you want to pick a better afterlife then go along to one of the big mind, body and spirit fairs and take your pick.
