I have always believed there is more to life than the hear and now. I am not particularly religious but I am a
Believer in spiritualism. Now today my mums favourite song came on when I was having a Mother's Day meal with my daughter. The song is "summer place". It was my parents song. Played at their wedding and at my mums funeral when she passed away nearly a year ago. Now I don't know if it's t was a coincidence or not but I was thinking of my mother on my first Mother's Day without her and that song came on. Am I strange to think it was a message from my mum

OP posts:

Am I strange to think it was a message from my mum

Sorry, but yes. That song is probably played all the time. I don't know it, but if it's the kind of song a "mum" would like, then it's no coincidence it was played on mother's' day.

BTW it's "here and now"

LuluBellaBlue · 31/03/2019 23:00

Not at all strange :)
I would totally say that’s your mums way of communicating with you to say she’s very much with you today especially.
The most important thing is what you believe and how it makes you feel.
The more you communicate with our loved ones in the spirit world the more messages you will be open to receiving Flowers

Heratnumber7 · 31/03/2019 23:03

The mother would have had to communicate with the DJ too. Some time ago probably, as play lists aren't randomly selected on the day. Sunday shows are often pre- recorded too.

Vitalogy · 01/04/2019 14:52

I believe in signs too OP.

twinklebee · 01/04/2019 14:55

I believe this too and it gives me comfort. Others won't (as demonstrated by PP) but no need to be rude. If it brings someone comfort when going through a hard time then leave them to it. I've had things like this happen to me and it's lovely when it happens.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/04/2019 14:57

Never mind signs OP,you just make sure you get your spelling right Hmm

I think anything that gives you comfort is a good thing. What a nice thing to remember your mum by yesterday Smile

JaneEyre07 · 01/04/2019 14:59

I went for a long walk yesterday, and when I got home, I had a white feather stuck to one of my wellies.

I don't know if it was from my Nan or my little boy, but whichever way it brought me a real moment of comfort yesterday.

I believe in signs OP, and whether they are real or in our heads, they are wonderful things when they happen.

Heratnumber7 · 01/04/2019 17:42

Might the feather have been from a bird? They drop them all the time.

Lifecraft · 01/04/2019 20:43

Confirmation bias. How many times have you thought about your mum, and there's been no sign at all. Thousands I would guess.

My mum often says, when I call her, "that's spooky, I was just thinking about you." She has never said "what the fuck are you calling for, I was thinking about your brother. Now piss off so the line won't be engaged when he calls".

PianoVigilante · 01/04/2019 23:27

It was a coincidence, OP. I’m sorry your mum died.

Vitalogy · 02/04/2019 06:29

Strikes me the naysayers seem to be trying to convince themselves more than the OP. Searching out the religion/philosophy threads late at night. Wonder why.

Snog · 02/04/2019 08:29

You believe it because it gives you comfort OP.

Heratnumber7 · 02/04/2019 19:53

Quarter to nine isn't late night!

Momo18 · 02/04/2019 20:00

Hmm, who knows. I went to my grandads funeral mid winter and we played a song about rainbows, after his funeral in deep snow there was a huge rainbow. It's a nice thing to believe and if it brings you comfort who's to say it's wrong.

Vitalogy · 02/04/2019 20:07

@Heratnumber7 Grin I was talking about the 11.30pm post. Although you must have been doing a teatime search Grin

Heratnumber7 · 02/04/2019 23:07

Depends on what time you have tea!

User1053051066 · 02/04/2019 23:19

I agree it is comforting but totally agree with those who state that feathers come from birds and that the deceased would have had to communicate with the DJ too.

Let's be realistic, water is wet and fire is hot. Passed loved ones cannot communicate (I am willing to be proven wrong) with us, they cannot call in to radio stations, they cannot stick feathers to our clothing etc, we all know this- let's be honest. these are coincidences.

I love a coincidence, like when DFIL's funeral song was played- on the anniversary of his death for example, it made me think of him and usually brings a tear to my eye, but I am realistic enough to know this is a co-incidence, and take the opportunity of being grateful for not switching the radio off just 5 minutes beforehand, as I was about to do. Not because DFIL "sent a message", but just because I had consciously decided I would leave it on for another 5 minutes.

OP, take the lovely memory which the song gave you and keep a good tight hold of it. These little coincidences are great memory joggers.

Vitalogy · 03/04/2019 07:02

A one dimensional view or a multi dimensional.

Lifecraft · 03/04/2019 15:20

You believe it because it gives you comfort OP.

Should se believe stuff because it makes us comfortable to believe it. Or should we believe stuff because there's evidence to show it is true. Even if that makes us more miserable.

I'd rather be miserable in the truth, than happy in a delusion. But is that the right way to be?

IvanaPee · 03/04/2019 15:23

If it gives you comfort do you really care if people on a chat forum agree or not?

Take comfort in it. It’s ok to think it’s a sign. It’s ok that other people might not agree. Flowers

Lifecraft · 03/04/2019 20:45

If it gives you comfort do you really care if people on a chat forum agree or not?

I'm not thinking about nobodies on a chat group, I'm thinking about yourself. Do you just accept it because it makes you happy, or do you question it, look for evidence to back up or refute your belief?

I'd rather research something and end up better informed and miserable, than live in blissful ignorance.

IvanaPee · 03/04/2019 20:46

Are you the OP?

Vitalogy · 03/04/2019 21:23

Some people would prefer to wait until mainstream science shows the evidence. Others can see beyond that box. Think of all the things mainstream science has discovered, before it was discovered it was still there.

StressToy · 03/04/2019 21:58

Vital, your last sentence makes no sense. And ‘mainstream science’ is unlikely to ever concern itself with the dead communicating via songs on the radio and feathers.

OP, it was a coincidence, but the dead aren’t gone while we remember them. Flowers

Vitalogy · 03/04/2019 22:04

StressToy For example, did bacteria exist before mainstream science discovered it.
