Just that really, do you believe, have you ever experienced anything.
I'll start with mine, didn't actually happen to me but to my son.
My father died several years ago, he had been ill and house bound for the last few years of his life.
At the time my son who had a very special relationship with his grandfather was traveling, and was in Argentina.
At around the time my father died my son said he woke with the feeling he wasn't alone. At the end of his bed (he was living with an Argentinean family) there was a bright light that hovered. He said he felt very warm and safe, and at that moment said he knew his grandfather had died.
The only time I've experienced anything was when I was pregnant with my son. We lived in a flat at the time. It happened during the day when I was alone. We had a large walk in cupboard, more like a small room which we used as a wardrobe. My husband plays guitar which was stored in this room.
I was in the bathroom (next to said room) when I clearly heard the guitar strumming different notes. Remember feeling very uneasy, but turned on light and looked in room. The guitar was propped against the wall in its sealed case. This happened years ago, can't think of any reason why, but I didn't imagine and it really shook me up at the time.

I've got a newfound obsession with this kind of thing despite not really believing in it all. I have been actively looking for woo threads. I started posting on another forum and my name is similar on there so you may recognise me if you are in both Blush.
I've got a few stories of my own and second hand from family members but the worst thing I EVER read was on here about the woman pet sitting and she chased that figure into the woods. Still sends shivers down my spine thinking about it.

Absolutely love reading these sorts of stories. I am the biggest skeptic on the planet. I do not believe and have only ever had experiences that science or gravity could explain away. But I do love a good ghost story thread full of other people's experiences even if I don't believe in them myself.

I've told this story before on here, but when my granny died, the day if her funeral there was a big storm and lightning hit our tv aerial and it blew the socket to pieces - my mum said this was her mum saying goodbye and when she died she would make a thunder and lightening storm to say goodbye.

Thirty odd years later and many times of talking about a promise of a storm when she died, she did die. Yep, there was a storm, a massive supercell storm!! 28 June 2012

@lookingforhappiness I was just thinking of that post. I even looked up where the wood was on the map afterwards! Creepy.

Schadenfreude it's this one , I saved it to my phone when I read it cos I thought it was a good meaty ghost story & I read it out whenever the topic of paranormal comes up Haha.

Warning: it's very long (sorry) and very freaky, and if anyone can come up with a rational explanation I'd be extremely grateful because I'm generally a pretty rational non-woo where's-the-evidence person, but I've never been able to explain this and it still makes my heart beat faster and the hair stand up on my arms when I think about it, years later.

I was pet sitting for my friend several years ago. She had moved into a sort of small holding right on the edge of a village in the SW, with a huge garden that backed onto trees. At the time she had a right menagerie - chickens, ducks, a couple of Shetlands, cats and four black retrievers, three fully grown and one a half grown puppy. Originally DH had been going to come with me as a little holiday but the dates she ended up having to go away for work clashed with a couple of his medical appointments so he stayed at home with our dog and I went to petsit alone.

It was about halfway through my stay, a couple of nights to go. Late evening, already dark when I heard a massive commotion from the chicken shed, banging and thumping. I assumed a fox or something had got in so went out to check. As I was halfway across the garden the noise stopped instantly as if it had been shut off; by the time I got to the shed all was calm and the chickens were all settled, mostly asleep. No sign of any intruder or disturbance at all, nothing to explain the noise or any indication that the chickens had made a noise. Bit freaky but I didn't (and still don't) know much about The Way of Chicken so I locked up again and left them to it.

As I went back in the house a small black shape ran past me out of the back door and I realised the puppy must have got out. It streaked across the garden and off towards the woods. Cue much cursing, then calling her name in vain. More cursing when she didn't come back. I grabbed a torch and put one of the other dogs on the lead, partly for protection, partly because I thought the pup was more likely to come back if I had one of her canine companions with me and partly because I didn't fancy my chances of finding my way back to the house on my own even though there were a couple of vague paths that I'd followed when walking the dogs throughout the week.

Off we trudged into the wood along one of these paths, me calling pup's name at intervals and trying not to imagine murderers and rapists behind every tree trunk. We got to a point where it felt like the trees were starting to thin out and I remember thinking that I didn't remember a clearing on this path and we must have gone wrong somewhere when the dog with me slowed right down and started to resist going forward. I tried to jolly her along - while my stomach suddenly dropped like a stone - and she started growling, a really low serious rumbling growl. By this time I was practically shitting myself. I tried shining the torch ahead but the beam just sort of bounced back off the darkness if that makes sense? I got the sense of something - or somethings - moving but just sinuous deeper black shapes against the blackness and always on the periphery of vision. (The hairs on my arms are standing up again just remembering how completely and utterly terrified I was. I have honestly never known a feeling like it.)

At this point the dog sank right down, still growling, hackles up and refused to budge. I muttered something like "Jesus, you have got to be kidding me" and this ugly gurgling inhuman sort of voice hissed, right up close as if someone was right next to me "don't say that name". At the same time there was a horrible snickering sort of laugh. I cant express how utterly petrified I was. I can't remember having any coherent thoughts apart from the word "evil". That's the only clear thing I can remember. Me and the dog were frozen to the spot with pure fear. Then a different voice, really commanding, said "GO. BACK." That sounded more in my head but echoey, where the others had sounded out in the air IYSWIM?

Wherever it came from it did the trick. Me & the dog turned and belted back through the woods. She basically towed me, I just clung onto her lead stumbling to keep up and sobbing with fear. I lost the torch somewhere on that wild run but there was no way I was stopping to find it. How I didn't run blindly into a tree I'll never know, she guided me I guess. I can remember thinking desperately that I mustn't let go of her lead or "they" would get me.

When we got back to the garden she suddenly stopped - I did fall over her this time, onto my hands and knees - turned around and started snarling, proper teeth bared, rabid-looking snarls, back at the trees and the darkness. I thought I heard the snickering again but the blood was pounding in my ears so hard I can't be sure. I scrambled up and ran to the back door and she followed me but backing and snarling all the way as if holding something at bay. Oh, and the chicken shed was banging and thumping again. I got the back door open, me and her belted in, I slammed home every bolt behind us. The other dogs left behind were staring at the door and growling too with their hackles up and when I saw all three of them, puppy included, acting like that I started to cry properly because I honestly thought I was trapped in some horror film nightmare and was going to die. I don't know - I still don't know - what the black shape was that ran past me out of the house and triggered all of this because the puppy was right there in the kitchen.

Anyway I made sure every door and window was locked and bolted, I turned on every light in the house, I wandered round mumbling all sorts of weird half-religious half-spiritual shit to ward off evil spirits. Gradually the dogs settled down and stopped growling, and eventually stopped glancing at the door. Funnily enough I didn't sleep for one second that night and I rang my DH and begged him to come over the last couple of days. I know I didn't dream it because I was covered in scratches from running through the woods and had grazed hands from where I fell over the dog in the garden.

Nothing like that has happened before or since and I hope it never, ever does. It was the single most horrible, terrifying experience of my entire life

I had a visitation from my DH recently. I have never believed in ghosts or anything remotely woo, but I was awakened by the pressure of DH leaning over me in bed. I saw him as he was before his last illness, and could smell his aftershave, touch him, feel his moustache add he kissed me and told me he loves me. I asked him if it was really him, and he said "who else?". I could feel the heaviness of him above me, and the duvet being pressed down where he was leaning on his hands. Strangely since this happened, I spoke to my nan who also lost her husband young and she experienced a similar thing, only for her the room went icy cold as my grandad appeared.

Oh actually just remembered another one. It sounds really daft, but I don't have an explanation for it at all. DH and I went to Paris, and did a tour of the Opera House, my favourite building in the world. I took lots of photos. The only ones that didn't turn out properly were the ones of Box 5. I took about 10, trying to get one that was not blurred or didn't have a weird light disrupting the middle of the photo. The area itself was not well lit, and test photos of other boxes did not have the same issue.

DH and I joked that it was the Opera Ghost, who is well known to use Box 5 as his domain. Now we both knew that a) it's fictional and b) the Opera Ghost wasn't actually an ghost but a disfigured man. So why did we have this problem? There is no explanation.

Ooooh I love these threads.

My mother, grandmother and I were sat round her kitchen table a few nights before my grandads funer was to take place. My grans mobile phone was on the table in front of us, as was my grandfather's where he had left it before he died. One of the old ones that held charge for weeks. No notifications in the background. Just texts and calls no Internet access. My grans phone screen lit up and my grandfather's name was on the screen. His phone was totally blank. When we checked the phone after no record of him calling her, but the missed call showed on her phone. Scary and unexplainable.

I work in a mursery that used to be a pub.
A lot of weird stuff happens.

Safety gates open themselves, lights turn themselves on and off. We even had a plastic plate fly from the shelf to the middle of the room and land just behind my colleague.
This has all be captured and rewatched on CCTV by the staff and the owner.

That sort of thing would to viral and be very valuable to those trying to prove ghosts exist. Have they passed any of the alleged proof on to anyone who could investigate the phenomenon?

I suspect you weren't awakened, but were still dreaming. Even if you had just awoken, I don't think when you've just woken up is a time to give a reliable account of anything.

It's definitely a spooky one isn't it. Some really good stories on this thread. I remember reading about Anne Diamond having an experience as well. I'm going to try and paraphrase it best I can
She's looking to buy a house and finds one she likes, old lady who lives there shows her round. Anne wants the house but the agent tells her it's no longer for sale, the old lady changed her mind. Few months later its back up again & Anne goes for another look, takes her mother with her. It's a winter afternoon so it's gone dark early. The same little old lady shows them around, goes off to make a pot of tea. Anne Diamond and her mum are wandering about upstairs. They go downstairs and the woman has left which they thought was odd. They go into the living room & her mum is saying what a lovely house it is, lots of space etc. Then they suddenly realise how empty the place is and that her mum is sitting on what appears in the dark to be like a wardrobe lying on its side. They get a horrible feeling wash over them and her mum whispers "I dont like this, it feels like a coffin" or words to that effect. Anyway they decide not to buy the house but she goes back for one more look and the postman tells her what a shame it was how the old lady died & she had been dead for 2 weeks in the house before they found her !! It worked out that she would have been dead at the time they went to look round.
I'm so rubbish at retelling stories trying to make them shorter but that was the gist of it.

I don't think when you've just woken up is a time to give a reliable account of anything.

This is my theory too. Also people who were near death and went to heaven or saw loved ones who passed over etc I believe being out of it and near death can cause any sort of visions and experiences.
As well as being in a fearful situation in a dark lonely place when you're already a bit scared or have heightened senses.

While I absolutely love reading the stories in still not convinced any are the result of ghosts. Though I do believe those who tell them really believe they saw what they saw I'd put it down to a result of the situation at the time which lead them to "see" these things.

If you really must know, we have children in our care who are under CP plans.

We also have adopted children who we aren't allowed to show publicly.

So yes, it absolutely would put children at risk.

Theres ways or having faces blurred if it's important to, though most CCTV is so grainy from a distance anyway. But it matters not I was just curious if they really did believe it was legitimate proof.

Report
HerRoyalFattyness · 21/04/2019 22:34

Even the tech to blur faces can be undone, revealing the children.
Its far too risky to allow the footage to be leaked to any tom dick and harry.

I do want to get some sort of paranormal investigators in, over a weekend when its closed but i don't trust any to be legitimate and I'm pretty sure my boss wouldn't give me the keys and let me just wander round the place with a bunch of strangers Grin

Report
TooManyPuppies · 21/04/2019 23:01

Well I disagree there are ways, but it's all good was just genuinely curious is all. I am the biggest skeptic on the planet, to me everything is explainable. So it makes me wonder if people really think they have proof why they wouldn't be getting these so called "professional" ghost people to look into it.

I guess video proof is even easier to explain than when it happens in real life.
