Hey,

So after 3 and a bit years of reading, praying and questions I have finally decided to take Shahada Grin

I'm very happy and excited for the future! I just have one question if there are any converts around? How did you tell your family and friends?

My DF is a lapsed Catholic, DM is non practicing C of E. I've always described myself as agnostic leaning towards atheist until now. I'm just worried about their reactions.

Any advice would be great!

It's a good read!

Turns out my brother and sister have been talking about my conversion with my mum. They think I've been brainwashed by my DH!

I'm not offended, just wish they would talk to me about it rather than going behind my back! I'm more offended that they think I could be brainwashed (even my mum was like and told them she is positive I make my own decisions).

Think I would have preferred them to ask me straight out!

Assalamu Alaikum Xiggzagg, the best way to let your family know you are not brainwashed is through your actions. Sometimes words aren't needed and actions speak louder than words, so following the example of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam such as testing parents honourably, being kind and not letting harm reach others will Insha Allah help them. That is what other reverts have said.
I'm in touch with a lot of reverts but in my area there isn't really much of a meeting point which I'm trying to work on. If you message me your area I can try help you get in touch with others.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I wasn't sure if you still wanted to get in touch with others.
