Would anyone like to join me in a Thy Kingdom Come thread? I think I may say a novena, pray for five people, and prayer walk my estate. Everyone welcome to join in!

What is a Thy Kingdom come thread?

CishAndFips · 30/04/2018 21:46

Just had a quick Google. Yes please.

picklemepopcorn · 30/04/2018 22:11

Hello Cish! My autocorrect hates your name! !

I'm picklemepopcorn by the way, I accidentally posted under a silly name I was playing with on another thread. I'll ask MN to change it!.

If that isn't clear as mud... I'm also Dad to seven.

That's great, what do you fancy doing? I'll dig out my novena pamphlet and see what it says.

Hi pickle I'll have a good look through that now thankyou.

picklemepopcorn · 01/05/2018 17:08

So it all kicks off on May 10th. I've pledged to pray as an individual and downloaded the Anglican novena.

I'm choosing 5 people to pray for every day. It's actually going to be five families, I think. My sister's family are under terrible pressure. A young family near me lost the mum in terrible circumstances. My mum, recently widowed. I'll have a think about the other two.

Great so a few days to have a good read and a good think. I think one of my 5 will be my son age 7 suspected ADHD. Tonight he told me he believes he's going to hell because he's a bad person. Obviously I've reassured him that he is not a bad person and that he is loved but will be praying for his peace of mind and working on helping him through this.

WomaninGreen · 01/05/2018 22:00

My iPad doesn't like the link, will try on PC tomorrow

Are you really a dad to 7?

My mum is going to need a lot of prayers for medical treatment....in case anyone has spare!

picklemepopcorn · 02/05/2018 07:02

Hello Woman!

No, I'm a mum to two! I had a name change fail from a silly thread I was on, just ignore that bit!

I've sent one up for your Mum, woman.

Ah Cish, poor boy. He's a sensitive little lad.

WomaninGreen · 02/05/2018 08:44

Thanks pickle.

Madhairday · 02/05/2018 10:32

This sounds great. I'd like to join, I need to have some discipline about praying for people at the moment. It's a great initiative. Thanks pickle.

picklemepopcorn · 02/05/2018 16:26

Hello Hair!

Woman and Cish, I was at a museum today where you could write a message on a slip of paper that would be turned into part of an art work. I wrote mentioning the family I'm praying for, and woman's Mum and Cish's son. So a large Papier mache urn will have a little slip all about us built into it.

picklemepopcorn · 02/05/2018 16:57

Would anyone like to do the novena at the same time as me every day?

OP posts:
CishAndFips · 02/05/2018 23:02

pickle thank you so much that's so lovely. Yes I would like to do that at the same time please. woman praying for your mum. Waves at MHD

picklemepopcorn · 06/05/2018 12:57

What time suits, Cish? 8am is good for me, but so are lots of other times. After 5pm is harder, as I'll have to work around family and may get distracted.

My church is making a prayer chain through FB. We have a community FB page, and we will be offering to pray for 10 days if they want to comment or PM us a concern.

Let me have a think about that one pickle I'll let you know in the morning.

permanentlyfrazzled1 · 07/05/2018 22:43

Hello 😊 I've just signed up to pray too. Good to join with like-minded folk.

picklemepopcorn · 08/05/2018 07:17

Hello frazzled, good to have you!

It all kicks off on Thursday.

OP posts:
permanentlyfrazzled1 · 08/05/2018 12:52

Good to be here 😊 I'm looking forward to the hour of focused prayer, although not sure that'll happen on Thursday as it's a busy day for me. I'm usually very haphazard in prayer - definitely needing more focus and importance placed on it - so hoping this will kick-start a new prayer life for me.

picklemepopcorn · 08/05/2018 13:53

I'm also haphazard. I don't dream of this setting me upon a path of persistent and consistent prayer, I just hope that for 10 days I will add to the surge of prayer across the country (world?).

OP posts:
permanentlyfrazzled1 · 08/05/2018 21:11

Yeah, I think it's a worldwide event. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a less than perfect prayer life 😆 I find it easy to get discouraged when I compare myself to all the 'better' Christians I know (every Christian I know!!), so it's refreshing to hear that pickle.

picklemepopcorn · 08/05/2018 21:38

I reassure myself that God is eternal and infinite, and probably 'gets' my prayers anyway!

OP posts:
TheGherkin · 09/05/2018 08:36

Hello. Can I join you? I’m trying to choose my 5 people and getting flustered. Who do I include? Who do I leave out? (Yes, I know, but I’m a worrier).
Anyway. I’m looking forward to committing to 10 days with other people. (I usually start out with good intentions and then fade off and forget. But like popcorn hope that my ad hoc prayers get through)
Sorry. I’m waffling. But i’m Here.

picklemepopcorn · 09/05/2018 09:59

Hello Gherkin. You could cheat, like I have, and pray for families?
Our church Facebook offer is ready for action. It's going out today, so people can respond from tomorrow. I've been given five people to pray for by someone else, as well, when she heard what Church was doing. It's going to be a busy ten days!

How's everyone?
