Baptism full body immersion - safe for elderly?

An elderly relative is required to do this - no other option at the church. She is 85, a little frail, very anxious about water and has very high blood pressure.
I am worried about the safety aspects. Is the water very cold? I know she will be very uptight about the process.
Any advice?

They also worship in secret and do not allow non LDS into the temple.

Slightly weirder than most, but entertaining to read about! Thinking hypothetically (I wish no ill to the old lady in question), what happens if you don't survive the immersion? Does someone else have to be baptised as your proxy, or does the one causing your demise still count?

I don't really care whether Mormons are "proper" christians or not.

I am an atheist. So I regard all religion in the same pot.
However my mother is in full control of her faculties and has agency to decide, I simply want to support her choices.

Will she be wearing the special underwear?

The temple garments?

I don't think it is a requirement.

The main reason she is doing this it to make sure my late father is moved from the departure lounge with a ticket to heaven.

If this baptism gives your gran comfort and it is going to be done with care then it sounds like a positive thing to do. I know that technically Mormons are regarded as not mainstream Christians but my experience of them has been of kind and generous people.

I hope she has a god day.

That was meant to be good but maybe the typo is prophetic.

May your gran's day be blessed and God met her in her care and love for her husband.

Thank you greenheart. It's my mother actually.

And although I am an atheist I can see it is something important and meaningful to her and I am trying to support without judgement.
