Litha - §ummer §olstice

Glitterfairy and I started another thread where we have been looking at all things wiccan etc and we are interested in finding out more about the Summer Solstice.

Anyone willing to talk about what they do to mark MidSummer, any good ideas to mark the occasion as a family affair etc?

The summer solstice has already begun - I knew it in my dreams last night which were wonderfully pagan. Perhaps I was visiting your family Snugs as in my dream I was spending time with a pagan family.

I was out in my garden last night celebrating with some friends (should be today I know but it was the only time we could get together).

It was lovely. First time I have had a fire in my (newly designed) fire pit since my plants have taken a good hold and starting flowering around my alter.

I had coloured candles in glass lanterns to mark the quarters and gold taper candles (for the sun) scattered amongst all the flowers. I also had 1 white and 1 black candle (for the Lady and Lord) at opposite sides of the alter. We couldn?t get them to stand straight in the soil - they insisted on leaning over towards each other. By the end of the evening they had touched and the dripping white and black wax had mingled together so that we couldn't separate the candles.

All in all it was a lovely night, full of celebration and laughter. Today I will light some more gold tapers at noon.

I think I did my major solstice celebrating in my dreams!! But once dd is awake I am going out with her to walk and solstice among nature!

That was supposed to be a in my post - not a manic-looking grin (don't think he looks happy - just insane!)

Unfortunately not a lot of nature's beauty to walk through here - littered streets just don't give you the same spiritual feeling

The sun looks like he's making a determined effort to get through the clouds, so hopefully ds2 and I can at least have lunch in the garden.

happy Litha to both of you. It is now sunny and lovely here. I went for a walk at six and said hello to the sun.

Love the image of the black and white candles running into each other Snugs. How symbolic is that! Really doing stuff is so much more than reading about it - makes me sad none of my friends want to celebrate tonight. In my imagination I'd love to have a little fire in my imaginary garden(!) and cook on it.

Have one blushc a virtual fire is burning tonight in the wood in our spiritual home.
