A new Christian prayer thread for summer...

Tuo · 22/06/2016 01:38

This thread is a safe space where anyone - regular, occasional visitor, lurker, committed Christian or waverer - is welcome to come and leave their prayers in the knowledge that they will be prayed for. No problem is too big or small to share here, and if you just want to come and say 'hi', that's fine too.

Looking back through our previous thread, we pray in particular for:

abbsismyhero - for help with her anxiety and relationship with an abusive ex.

amberlight - for her work supporting people with autism, and for health and happiness for her and her family.

Aphie - for her fiancé's family following the sudden death of his uncle, and for her anxiety.

BlackEyedSusan - for all that she has to juggle as a single mum, for her DC, and for her mum.

Bluetinkerbell - five years on from the loss of her baby DD, Sterre.

Cocoa button - for issues around the safety of her DS2.

Dontbesilly - for strength as she grieves the loss of her dad, for her mum and the rest of her family, for her DD's school issues, and for Dont's own health.

drspouse - for full recovery from a recent chest infection and for happiness and a warm welcome in her new church.

DutchOma - with gratitude for all she does to support people on this thread and elsewhere, and for her to find peace and joy in her life following the loss of her beloved Bob.

EdithSimcox - for her to find joy and fulfilment in her faith and understanding and support from her DP.

ethelb - for her MIL who has blood clots in her leg and suspected sarcoma, and for all who love and care for her.

FaithLoveandHope - for her anxiety and depression to lift and for her to be able to avoid falling into despair and self-harm, and for her relationship with her DSD.

greyscalealmond - for her depression to be alleviated and for family relationships.

HardyLeodicean - especially for her FIL and for a recently-bereaved friend.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece - for her friend's pregnancy.

LarrytheCucumber - for family members involved in fostering and adoption, for the DC involved, and for their birth parents and all involved in their ongoing care.

LifeofBriony - for her relationship with her DH and for her DD's friend, J, who is in a coma after a seizure.

LittleBootsTheBabe - for healing and happiness for an acquaintance of hers.

MadHairDay - for her health, and for her whole family at a time of change and uncertainty.

Malefriendproblem - for her relationship with an old friend which has turned sour, and for her DD who suffers from anxiety.

Newmamatobe - for her new life with her baby DD and free of alcohol.

niminypiminy - who will be ordained very soon.

passportmess - for her friend who has schleroderma.

Paulat2112 - for friends who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

PositiveAttitude - for her whole family, but especially her DD1 who has been depressed, her pregnant DD2, her mum and dad, her DH and his work. Above all, we pray for PA herself, who is always there for others when they need her, for her studies, and for a potential house-move.

QoF - for her relationship with her DH.

SESthebrave - for all who are grieving over the loss of a friend from church, for work-related decision-making, and for the friend who was Best Man at her wedding whose relationship has broken down following his wife's infidelity.

SouthernLassie - for her relationship with a colleague.

sweetandsour - for her auntie who has been diagnosed with cancer, and for her mum and all who love and care for her auntie.

Teallove - for her to feel free to move on following the breakdown of a relationship.

Trazzletoes - for her 6-year-old DS who has previously had cancer and who is now unwell again - praying for a swift (and hopefully reassuring) diagnosis and for Trazzletoes and all who love him at this worrying time.

Tweebee - for her DS to settle at nursery.

And also thinking of friends who haven't visited for a while, who who pop in only occasionally, including ALittleFaith, Anjelica27, Kaykat, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, Pandora97, shortscotty, weegiemum and others.

And, as always, prayers for anyone I've forgotten (with apologies), for all who lurk but don't post, and for newbies who may not have posted yet.

This prayer was posted by Edith on the old thread, and I really like it and would like it to stand for what this new thread is all about:

All that we are, Lord,
we place into your hands.
All that we do, Lord,
we place into your hands.

Everything we work for,
we place into your hands.
Everything we hope for,
we place into your hands.

The troubles that weary us,
we place into your hands.
Thoughts that disturb us,
we place into your hands.

Each that we pray for,
we place into your hands.
Each that we care for,
we place into your hands. Amen

I feel very touched highway you took the time to write and reach out to me, this means a great deal to me.

I think just the thought that somehow they are being looked after somewhere when I can't be there for them and havent been able to that there is almost a feeling of relief.

I did have a little look back and I am sorry you don't feel MN is for you, this saddens me i have felt such warmth from certain parts of it, but agree some of it is so horrible at times when people just need kindness mostly.

Thank you for your kindness and I wish you much love in your life and hope you find the strength you need.

I am not where you are in your belief, but I think maybe your right maybe someone is looking out for me X

Highway61 · 18/07/2016 03:11

I believe that Jesus died to save us, that if you accept Him, then you go to Heaven. All children, those who haven't heard the good news are saved.

Jesus comforts me. I pray you find the same comfort in Him. He's waiting for you to reach out, I'm sure.

God loves you, kittens. He knows your pain. I hope you get to know Him and his love for you.

If you ever need to talk ..I'm a bit useless, but I sent you my email.

Highway61 · 18/07/2016 03:20

I expect my deregistration to kick in soon, Kittens.

I'm so sorry you are suffering, for your losses. I know one day you will be reunited with those babies in Heaven.

This world is a cruel place. I don't feel Americans or Christian women are welcome, and I'm too vulnerable to cope with seeing all the cruelty, and pirhana attacks on the poor, suffering...anyone who is lost. I can't take seeing it.

Jesus carries me thru. I've struggled with my faith, but He has never left me.

I pray you find a lovely church, and find comfort in Faith and Jesus.

Big hugs,

Highway x

KittensandKnitting · 18/07/2016 03:29

highway thank you so much for all your kindness X

It is so very much appreciated, I think some of MN is not very pleasant but it has been a wealth of support for me on some less popular boards I'm just so sorry that people have been unkind to you X

I have your email and I will drop you a mail as I hope if you need some support at any point you will feel happy to reach out to me so I can show you the same kindness x

Highway61 · 18/07/2016 03:41

Bless you, sweetheart.

I would have collapsed long ago if it weren't for Jesus. I hope you gain the same comfort and peace. I have two children. I miscarried 3. I had none with my darling second husband, the only man who was ever kind to me.

I hope I haven't offended you either. I don't know of any other comfort or answer than Jesus Christ, and it makes me so happy to share.

KittensandKnitting · 18/07/2016 03:54

Gosh you haven't offended me at all!

How could you? You have been so kind to me and your thousands of miles away X I believe somehow we were brought together.

I can see from your posts your going through a difficult time yourself. going through miscarriage is such a lonley thing and I am so very sorry you experienced this.

I am so grateful for your support X I hope things get better for you so very very soon

Highway61 · 18/07/2016 04:04

Thank you kittens. Being able to share my faith, and hopefully let others find their own faith in Jesus and be comforted by His grace is a blessing to me.

I have two lovely children. It hurts, but I know God knows better than me, and perhaps spared those I lost from suffering. I know they are waiting for me, safe with Jesus. It's nothing compared to your losses.

Ill be around on email, and am happy to help in any way I can.

Spread the Love, kittens!

LarrytheCucumber · 18/07/2016 06:35

Highway you can always rejoin and just look at this thread.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/07/2016 07:43

morning.

welcome kittens.

sorry you are leaving highway.

bit worried. we are due 31 degree temps and the flat will get really hot and unbearable. only for a day or two but even so... wwwwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhh

Dutchoma · 18/07/2016 08:06

Kittensandknitting two of my favourite things. You are more than welcome to 'bump into us' as well. I think that genuine seekers cannot really offend, it is the people who think they know it all and are not afraid to say so are the ones I would find very hard to cope with, even though you would try to understand.
I am sorry about the miscarriages. I know something of that pain as I had two very early ones in between my two children. The oldest is 39 today and I am very blessed I had another child four and a half years later. The pain and disappointment are immense especially if you got so far as you did. Such pain speaks out of your post and I am longing for you to feel the love and the warmth of the Lord Jesus around you. He knows your pain and longs for you to know Him and find comfort.
Highway I have pm'd you and hope you can still read that. I think it is not for nothing that your de-registration took a little bit of time to come through Smile
Bes. with you I hope that this weather does not last too long. I'm not good at all in this heat, but at least there are spots where it stays cool in my house and garden. Glad you found enough sun cream to last you a little while.

crappymummy · 18/07/2016 08:10

please can I ask you all to pray for me and my family on Wednesday when we fly to Canada - I have an enormous amount of anxiety around flying, and travel as well and I am finding it very hard to cope right now.

Thank you Flowers

mrspotatolegs · 18/07/2016 08:14

Thanks Tuo and Passport.

Can we go with MrsP please instead of potatolegs which is rather too descriptive in fact?!

Can you find some shade outdoors BES? Doesn't help through the night though. Hope you all survive it ok.

kittens, welcome. Of course it is not inappropriate for you to post here. I know completely how you feel about being a fraud, going to church when you don't believe... Let me just say it was the best thing I ever did - be careful what you wish for (!) you might end up a Jesus freak like me. And if you don't I'm quite sure you will find peace and comfort there anyway, it one thing churches really are best at.

I am praying for you, for your losses, for strength in your sadness and that you find the peace you are seeking.

Highway61 · 18/07/2016 08:32

Well, not sure what happened with my deregistration request!

I'm glad I could pop in and say I'm praying for you all.

God is so good!

Dutchoma · 18/07/2016 08:50

Well, there are limits: I am not going to pray for a crappymummy, I do not think there is such a thing as that. (Sorry - not). You are valued and loved and of course I will pray for you in your anxiety and what sounds like very low self esteem. Could we look forward to a namechange? Smile
Highway. God is indeed very good and I am glad He has kept you on this thread at least overnight.
MrsP I can never work out namechanges, please help me out

crappymummy · 18/07/2016 09:02

Thank you DutchOma, I will probably dereg and rereg as I can't remember the password to this username to be able to change it

If and when you pray for me, you could use the initial of my first name, which is M

Thank you Flowers

Orchidflower1 · 18/07/2016 09:21

Praying for m that her flight goes well and she is calm.
Praying that everyone stays safe and well during this hot spell. bes I had my feet in a bowl of cold water yesterday which helped.
Praying For thanks for all who share this thread.
Praying For continued support with my anxiety as I have tried for 6 days on new tablets and whilst they make me calmer I can stand the side effects. My dh is finding it hard and asked me why God is " doing this to us" tried to give words of encouragement.

Dutchoma · 18/07/2016 09:56

Praying for you M, certainly. I would always forget pass words if I didn't make a list of them, which is not good I know, but needs must.

Orchid. I do think your husband should take some responsibility for your anxiety if he is still not kind to you. I don't think it is very fair to blame God for 'doing' things to us when we would be perfectly capable of changinging them ourselves. I think you are doing all you can to help yourself, but am not so sure about your husband.

WasChibi · 18/07/2016 10:21

Ok, I have managed to name change, it involved having to reset a password on an email account I never use and thus had forgotten

I will pray for you all and thank you for your kindness to me Flowers

BlackeyedSusan · 18/07/2016 11:05

welcome back? waschibi. wishing you well with the flying. I shall be back in a while asking for prayers and only for driving to wales!

we made it to school on time. a neighbour tied ds's tie this morning as he was sent down holding it, we were so late due to extra suncream, which was the extra viscous stuff, and finding sunhats. and autism.

Madhairday · 18/07/2016 12:19

You are very welcome here, Kittens :) I will pray for you that you feel at peace going into the church and will be welcomed. I'm so sorry to hear about your mcs. Flowers

Praying for you Orchid, for peace at home, for easing of anxiety.

Highway - if you're still around, you are in my prayers... hope you are ok.

Praying also for m, that the flight goes well, and for BES. How are you feeling?

I have some great news to share. DH got a new job :) We are so excited. And it is just across town, so the dcs can stay at their schools though obv we will need to move. Looks like we'll move in October so it's not a huge rush :)

Dutchoma · 18/07/2016 12:35

Congratulations MHD, that is wonderful news.

passportmess · 18/07/2016 12:41

Ooh that's great news MHD! Even better when there is not much upheaval for the kids! Flowers

Madhairday · 18/07/2016 12:46

It's a big, busy thriving church. It's really exciting. Our new house looks lovely too though in a busier area than we are in right now so we'll have to get used to that, but seems like a really nice area. It's being decorated/new kitchen/bathroom which is brilliant. It's been a long road but it feels like this is God's calling. Very happy :)

mrspotatolegs · 18/07/2016 12:57

Yay! MHD I'm so happy for you and for DH. Sounds perfect. Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 18/07/2016 14:53

excellent mhd.
