Christian Prayer Thread. Back to school and into Autumn

Dutchoma · 28/08/2015 17:38

As we were nearly at 1000 posts and TUO is both very busy and away today, I thought I might have a go at setting up a new thread.
I have looked back over nearly four months of prayers, of sharing, of support, of gladness and sadness and so much more. I think there are about 50 different people on the thread, some are there from beginning to end, some come in, are here for a few days and then don’t post any more.
Both are valuable, all are welcome, we share with you in anxiety and depression, in worry for others, but also in prayers answered, wonderful healing, good exam results and so much more.
But we also realise that life moves on, that the prayer thread was helpful for a while and is not so relevant now. Never be afraid to come back, we all need prayer and support.

So, like TUO I shall pick out a few names for the new thread, but leave behind some that have not posted for a while, hoping that they will come back and update us.
Specially thinking of: Anjelica27; I know how much this thread has helped you. Bsshbosh and wondering how she is now.

Whoagirrrrl, after her operation. Dizzydaffodil, Pandora37 and PeterSpots .

There are so many more names to remember: Alittleroom, Bluetinkerbell, DontstepontheMomeraths, Howtoapproachthis and several more.

And then the ones that are quite recent like:
ALittleFaith, Amberlight; BlackEyedSusan, Dontbesilly; EdithSimcox; FaithLoveandHope, Kaykat, Lightnessofbeing; MadHairDay; PositiveAttitude; QuestionofFaith; QuietIsland2; SESthebrave; TUO; Weegiemum; ZipadiSoozi

And if I have omitted any one, be assured that God never forgets and holds you fast in His love and mercy.

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 16/09/2015 10:01

Frequent name changer and occasional poster here. PA sorry to hear about your mum. Praying that everything will get sorted out and that the meeting with the minister will go smoothly (I remember your posts about the church over the last few years).

Hope you feel better soon BES.

QuietIsland2 · 16/09/2015 10:08

Tuo Thanks for the St Teresa prayer - I chose her name as my confirmation name but have never come across that prayer.

Anjelica27 · 16/09/2015 18:55

Don't mean to be cryptic but can't get to my e mail or anything (sorry Oma) keeping things calm and ds safe. Reading daily (all the time) and praying for you all. Please pray for us.

Dutchoma · 16/09/2015 19:13

Praying. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for all your prayers. Saw my friend yesterday and she seemed to be in better spirits.

I am praying for all of you, that God supplies all your needs and gives each of you the strength that you need.

Lightnessofbeing2015 · 16/09/2015 23:04

Praying for everyone on the thread. Had a lovely weekend with ds. Am back in work since Monday feels a long week God will give me strength. I couldn't get to church on Sunday as was home alone with ds and have really missed that. I popped in to pray but that seems a long time ago now.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/09/2015 23:05

prayers anjelica.

Tuo · 17/09/2015 00:30

In haste as usual - long day (as usual) - but wanted to just pop in to tell people that I am praying for them. Especially PA, BES (get well soon), Anjelica, Kaykat, Edith, Oma, Dontbesilly and her dad, Lightness, Lessstressed and her friend, legohurts, and anyone else who needs our prayers tonight.

I'm reading in church on Sunday and the passage contains this, which I post tonight as a prayer for us all:

"A harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace" (James 3: 18)

Lord, make us all peacemakers...

PositiveAttitude · 17/09/2015 05:29

Be assured of continuing prayers Anjelica and Thanks and (((hugs))) for you, too.

Well, it does appear that our local hospital are just about to make an absolute fortune and get themselves out of a massive deficit!! Apparently they have found a cure for advanced stages of Alzheimers!!! Having a stroke cures Alzheimers - I can see the headlines now!!! Can you believe it? The fact that mum cannot speak since her stroke means that she is now totally compos mentis!!!!!! Shock She has apparently "told" the staff that she wants to go home, that she is doing everything now that she was able to do before her stroke and she even managed to "pass" a memory test yesterday!!! Hmm Hmm Hmm the same mum who a few days before her stroke told me not to be so stupid, saying I was her daughter because she would know if she had any children!!! (she had 5 and has 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons) Oh and they didn't understand why on earth she was trying to eat her dinner with her toothbrush yesterday, but she is still able to decide what is best for her future!
I am going there today ready to make myself unpopular again. For the past 2 nights during visiting time mum has needed the toilet, but despite asking 2 nurses to help us each time, she has ended up making a mess on her chair because the nurses have not responded to our requests of help. As an ex-nursing sister I am disgusted!! The nurses have then not been very nice when they have a mess to clean up and my mum is getting distressed at it all. No way could mum push a call button or ask for help if we are not there, so goodness knows what happens for the 22 hours of the day when we are not visiting! Angry

I think I need prayers to keep calm and not say everything that I want to say.
Meeting with minister is this morning cos he "forgot" he had a funeral to go to of a lovely member of our church on Tuesday when he arranged our meeting for the same time

QofF · 17/09/2015 07:05

pa I think you are totally justified going there and saying exactly everything you want to say! Your poor mum and poor you and your family having to do battle as well as dealing with her illness and the effects of that.
angelica you are both in my prayers

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 17/09/2015 07:36

PA - hope the meeting today goes well. I appreciate that it will probably be awkward.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/09/2015 07:47

Shock pa.

prayers anjelica.

eating some breakfast for the sake of tablets. flu jab this morning. better than bloody flu though. I have escaped every year so far.

ds is eating his second breakfast. the first is rejected as being too soggy. must clean weeta bix out of carpet
the tablets are likely to upset my tummy and I should imagine I will spend part of the day improving my sprinting, hill climbs and hurdling skills.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/09/2015 17:52

grr. my temperature was too high for the jab. got to make another appointment. not pleased.

Dutchoma · 17/09/2015 18:13

What a nuisance.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 17/09/2015 19:31

and now I have irritable airways/throat. I can feel every breath going in and it is tickling and making me cough and feel out of breathe. the usual but two bloody months early.

Dontbesilly · 18/09/2015 18:48

PA - your poor mum and you too. It's actually quite frightening to think about what happens to our elderly and vulnerable family members. Never worry about making yourself 'unpopular' when you are fighting to get basic health care for your parents. Your certainly not being unreasonable by any means. I wouldn't care if I was the most 'unpopular' woman in history, fighting for my dad, as long as like you, it's totally justified and reasonable then I would battle on. These people would expect the best for their relatives I am certain. Prayers for you all Flowers

BlackeyedSusan · 19/09/2015 17:15

off to fetch dd from rehearsal. washing up done. washing done. then to mothers to harvest fruit.

EdithSimcox · 19/09/2015 17:34

PA how are things going with your mum? And how was your conversation with the minister? You and your DH have had a lot to cope with recently and it sounds tough but you are doing everything right. Praying for angelica too and your DS, and for everyone else here and lurking.
bes sorry you are poorly again, get well soon.
I need to decide whether to go to church tomorrow and upset DP (a lot) or whether to be kind to her and not go, even though I'd like to. It sounds like a small thing but every decision has big ramifications atm and I don't know what is best.
