Christian Prayer Thread. Back to school and into Autumn

Dutchoma · 28/08/2015 17:38

As we were nearly at 1000 posts and TUO is both very busy and away today, I thought I might have a go at setting up a new thread.
I have looked back over nearly four months of prayers, of sharing, of support, of gladness and sadness and so much more. I think there are about 50 different people on the thread, some are there from beginning to end, some come in, are here for a few days and then don’t post any more.
Both are valuable, all are welcome, we share with you in anxiety and depression, in worry for others, but also in prayers answered, wonderful healing, good exam results and so much more.
But we also realise that life moves on, that the prayer thread was helpful for a while and is not so relevant now. Never be afraid to come back, we all need prayer and support.

So, like TUO I shall pick out a few names for the new thread, but leave behind some that have not posted for a while, hoping that they will come back and update us.
Specially thinking of: Anjelica27; I know how much this thread has helped you. Bsshbosh and wondering how she is now.

Whoagirrrrl, after her operation. Dizzydaffodil, Pandora37 and PeterSpots .

There are so many more names to remember: Alittleroom, Bluetinkerbell, DontstepontheMomeraths, Howtoapproachthis and several more.

And then the ones that are quite recent like:
ALittleFaith, Amberlight; BlackEyedSusan, Dontbesilly; EdithSimcox; FaithLoveandHope, Kaykat, Lightnessofbeing; MadHairDay; PositiveAttitude; QuestionofFaith; QuietIsland2; SESthebrave; TUO; Weegiemum; ZipadiSoozi

And if I have omitted any one, be assured that God never forgets and holds you fast in His love and mercy.

fecking growth spurts.

nearly all the uniform hanging nicely in the wardrobe ready for thursday has now been put into carrier bags to be donated. It was all checked 5 weeks ago.

now need to do an emergecy uniform shop. (or pray hard that lots of other people have had th same problem and I can pick up some stuff from the uniform sale.. and that is soon. )

Dontbesilly · 01/09/2015 20:20

Thank you Quiet. I have not heard of her but will Google her and ask about the convent prayer list. I did contact the Franciscan monks asking for dad to be prayed for over, at St Padre Pio's tomb in Italy too. I really have faith and belief in novena prayers and have had quite a lot of almost impossible things happen. I am glad you have had your novena prayer request answered too, especially one so important and urgent. I will look up St Theodore Guerin and ask for her help. The novena prayer site asks that if you had a prayer answered with a saints intercession to please mention it, to sort of honour and thank the saints. so I like to do that for them in return for all they do for me.

Dontbesilly · 01/09/2015 20:23

Oops ignore the random commas and full stops. Typing on my phone in the semi darkness with a snoring dog on my knee....

BlackeyedSusan · 01/09/2015 22:28

OFFS. Worms again.

GP tomorrow.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/09/2015 22:35

and guess who was sorting uniform on their beds today?

It will just have to be worn and washed and go back into the wardrobe.. children will have to have two doses of medicine. It is impossible to do it all in one go. quite frankly I have not had chance to get everything back inshape since last time. goodness knows where they got them from as everything was hoovered and washed within an inch of its life or stored in bin bags for three weeks, until the eggs die. we have been infection free for months.

Dutchoma · 01/09/2015 23:05

That's a real b*gger. They were playing in the garden here, they may have been inthe soil, although I have had no complaints from other children who have played in the garden also.

Thanks for your kind and sensible words don't :) . I was really plunged into gloom yesterday and I think it stemmed partly from a slightly awkward moment as I left the other members of my team before my leave. However today they were fine and seemed to have realised they were not reasonable( I think someone may have spoken with them when I was away). I do get quite down and lonely sometimes, it's just the way I am.. Too sensitive.
Thank you for the kind prayer ... It's true I can do the job and handle the work and that is the important thing to remember; I will cope.

So glad to hear the good news about your dad today I hope this referral will lead to more dynamic action and treatment . I am keeping your dad and you both in my prayers tonight for a clear treatment programme and good response to the treatment and confidence in your doctors.

Dear God please help us all to realise our potential and be confident in ourselves and to have peace and love in our hearts.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/09/2015 23:52

too soon for it to have come from you oma. Could have been from holiday accomodation, or other children. who knows? These things tend to be spreading before they are found and treated. dd has been to church and childrens groups so could be from there.

oh and next week is supposedly pmt awareness week? (if I heard correctly on R4) ha, just let me out in public, they will be aware all right! Getting perimenopausal symptoms as well.

Tuo · 02/09/2015 00:50

Prayers for all on this thread. Thanking God for developments around Don't's dad's treatment, and for Weegie's DD's strong steps on the road to recovery. Also praying for your own health Weegie and for you as you embark on your Masters. Praying for all those beset by anxiety and worry to know God's peace: especially Don't and Lightness. Adding prayers for MHD - I missed the post on the old thread where she said she'd been poorly again, and I pray she is feeling better again soon. Praying for BES and her DC - worms are horrid, but at least fairly easily treatable: may they be dealt with quickly and with a minimum of discomfort.

This prayer comes via the Jesuits (on www.sacredspace.ie)

Help me Lord to be more conscious of your presence.
Teach me to recognise your presence in others.
Fill my heart with gratitude for the times Your love has been shown to me through the care of others. Amen

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 10:31

ha... we had worms several months ago and things are still not back to normal. getting it all cleared up is a bloody nightmare, on top of the childrens additional needs which already takes up most of my effort. there is very little time to do it all again. and it comes as we are going back to school.

Dontbesilly · 02/09/2015 11:52

Don't worry Bes it will all work out fine. It's a terrible nuisance when it happens again though. You can only do so much, your only human and not a machine. We used to remain nit free for the summer holidays and within a week of being back at school had head lice. I was so aaggghhh with it all so I understand your frustration.

Lightness. Glad yesterday was better. I am a bit oversensitive too. Think it goes hand in hand with being a worrier. Thanks for your prayers.

Quiet. I found the convent regarding St Theodore Guerin and sent off a prayer request. Today I received such a lovely email from the sisters, who are praying for dad and they asked for updates on his situation which I promised them I would do. Thanks for sharing this information with me.

Hoping everyone is doing OK. Thanks for your continued support both on here and in prayer. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers too x

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 12:47

I have started on the washoing but have not got much done. I fell like Ihave been messing about on the computer, though I have been composing emails to school about the children's additional needs. grr.

QuietIsland2 · 02/09/2015 13:04

Yes, don't I received a lovely email too at the time. They are so lovely. St Theodore had only just been canonised and I had just been diagnosed so I thought she might not be too inundated by prayer requests! Anyway I was hoping to get down to one anti thyroid tablet as I was on 6 and I wanted to conceive. My Dr thought one tablet would be safest. Anyway I went into remission quickly and stayed that way even through a pregnancy. The doctors were amazed at the minute quantities of anti thyroid antibodies in my body. They said I had been exceptionally lucky. Usually it takes two years to get remission and there is likely then a relapse. Anyway prayer does no harm.
Sorry to hear of Bes's family and their unwanted guests - such a nuisance. Reminds me of our scabies outbreak in the summer of 2011 - the washing, the mortification, putting the lotion everywhere head to toe...

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 13:38

thank God we have not had scabies or nits. nits are preferable as there is alot less washing.

basically the routine is to strip beds, wash all bedding, hoover mattress and floor, damp dust all surfaces, in every bloody room. including washing the fifty million cuddly toys.

the only problem with hoovering in the living room is finding the sodding carpet. it has been sacrifices to the great clean up upstairs. I have decided to leave the cleaning until tomorrow as school stuff needs to be ready for them to go to school.

the thing is, the flat is not easily cleanable due to all the stuff, and the children take up nearly all of my energy and there is very little for extra effort. september's extra is taken up with rehearsals for a production that dd si part of. mostly, both days in a weekend. oh and organising meetingout of the home with ex.

please pray I find the extra energy from somewhere. in the mean time I am going to iuse the recommended method of control for pregnant and breastfeeding women. (cleaning without meds)

Dontbesilly · 02/09/2015 14:30

Prayers for time and energy to sort everything out bes. It will all work out fine in the end. Maybe things will be slightly easier once the dc get back to school and you have a few child free hours to blast through the routines. Hopefully things clear up and stay that way for you too. You have my sympathies and prayers too.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 14:40

thanks.

realistically, putting off the appointment until after school tomorrow so that things can be cleaned and meds taken in a way that will reduce the risk of recontamination.

next job is to get school bags and pe kits out. dreading it.

QuietIsland2 · 02/09/2015 16:41

At least with the scabies mite we could seal all the cuddly toys in a plastic bag and leave for a few days in an unused room. My heart goes out to you Bes. It's so much extra work when you don't need it.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 17:53

three weeks for worm eggs. so cuddly toys going on a three week holiday. the irony is I have still not unpacked the black bags of stuff from the last sealed up for three weeks. their special toys will be washed.

There have been more things that have been put away since the last time, but the living room floor is terrible.

I shall be sealing the sand tray up for three weeks too. last time it mneeded emptying anyway, this time they will get sealed in.

their room is slightly tidier than last time so it should not take as long.

Anjelica27 · 02/09/2015 19:33

Ha!! So much for whispering. That backfired spectacularly, ds has been beside himself with fury since, at the world in general with a special mention for me, who is of course responsible for it all.
Finally had enough and had a major meltdown of my own (at the GP not in front of ds) signed off for a month.

Reading through daily and praying - please if you can pray for ds to find some peace again. Not hopeful - appointment with cpn tomorrow so off he'll go again.

Dutchoma · 02/09/2015 19:57

Praying Anjelica.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/09/2015 20:50

glad you are now getting support. prayers for peace, for both of you.

thinking about my mother. I need to disconnect her feelings and state of anxiety from mine. (failing completely) I suspect that you need to do the same for ds. How the hell we are going to manage it is another matter entirely. Grin Blush Confused

Dontbesilly · 02/09/2015 21:01

Oh Angelica I am so sorry to hear about your setback. I hope that you can use your signed off time to try to put yourself back together again. You must be emotionally exhausted. I think it is a good thing you let it all out with your gp. You can only take so much of a difficult situation before something has to give so to speak. You sound like a fantastic mum.

I will pray for you and your ds, please be assured of that. Hopefully things will turn out better than you fear at tomorrows meeting. Take care of yourself.

Thinking of you Flowers

QuietIsland2 · 02/09/2015 23:00

Praying for your ds Angelica. (And for you)

Dutchoma · 03/09/2015 09:08

I've had a message from Zipadisoozi who has been in hospital for a week with gastro enteritis, which is not helped by the tablets she takes (has taken) for her bulging disk. She is in much pain. Please pray.
