Christian Prayer Thread. Back to school and into Autumn

As we were nearly at 1000 posts and TUO is both very busy and away today, I thought I might have a go at setting up a new thread.
I have looked back over nearly four months of prayers, of sharing, of support, of gladness and sadness and so much more. I think there are about 50 different people on the thread, some are there from beginning to end, some come in, are here for a few days and then don’t post any more.
Both are valuable, all are welcome, we share with you in anxiety and depression, in worry for others, but also in prayers answered, wonderful healing, good exam results and so much more.
But we also realise that life moves on, that the prayer thread was helpful for a while and is not so relevant now. Never be afraid to come back, we all need prayer and support.

So, like TUO I shall pick out a few names for the new thread, but leave behind some that have not posted for a while, hoping that they will come back and update us.
Specially thinking of: Anjelica27; I know how much this thread has helped you. Bsshbosh and wondering how she is now.

Whoagirrrrl, after her operation. Dizzydaffodil, Pandora37 and PeterSpots .

There are so many more names to remember: Alittleroom, Bluetinkerbell, DontstepontheMomeraths, Howtoapproachthis and several more.

And then the ones that are quite recent like:
ALittleFaith, Amberlight; BlackEyedSusan, Dontbesilly; EdithSimcox; FaithLoveandHope, Kaykat, Lightnessofbeing; MadHairDay; PositiveAttitude; QuestionofFaith; QuietIsland2; SESthebrave; TUO; Weegiemum; ZipadiSoozi

And if I have omitted any one, be assured that God never forgets and holds you fast in His love and mercy.

Oh I'm glad you are safely home. I hope that they will all be in bed and asleep soon and you can go to bed too. Are you still on the sofa with the wardrobe unpacked on the bed?

Oma - I just read your post about your brother and wanted to offer you my condolences. Prayers for you as you come to terms with the situation and for your family too. Praying that God will take especially good care of you and stay ever close to you, day and night.

You all sound like a truly remarkable family, to be able to cope with the difficult decision despite your own reservations and feelings. May your brother rest in peace.

Safe journey to Holland and back again.

Thinking of you Flowers

Dutchoma · 01/11/2015 18:47

Thank you don't. I am now at Liverpool Street Station on my way to the nightboat from Harwich. Will be in Holland tomorrow morning at 8am

Thinking of you. Sleep well on the night boat and take care of yourself. X

QofF · 01/11/2015 21:09

Safe journey oma

Tuo · 02/11/2015 07:56

Prayers for Oma this week... for a safe journey, for all those touched by the loss of her brother, but especially for Oma herself at this difficult time.

And praying today, on this All Souls' Day, for all those (on this thread or known to us) who've lost loved ones. May they remember them with love and joy even in their sadness at no longer having them near. Rest eternal grant unto them, o Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.

Dutchoma · 02/11/2015 11:33

A journey with hiccups but I've made it to my brother's. (My favourite one in Eindhoven).

glad you have arrived. was praying.

madhairday · 02/11/2015 16:33

Oh gosh, I have just made it on here, my internet is being erratic.

Dear DO. Flowers I am so sorry, and I am praying for you, standing with you, lovely lady.

Found this prayer:

Comfort me with Your love O God
Wrap me up in Your strong embrace
Shelter me from the storm O Lord
Envelop me in Your tender care

By day I pour out my heartbreak to You
By night I give you my racing thoughts

In You I take refuge
In You I will not be afraid
For you hold me strong, You hold me safe

Calm my fearful heart O God
Still my anxious mind O Lord

For all my life is found in You
All my being is given to You
All my hope begins in You

Pandora97 · 02/11/2015 17:31

I'm very sorry to hear about your brother Dutchoma. Flowers As for your question (sorry I got a bit behind!) I don't have a partner or children so I can move in theory anywhere but I don't want to move too far from my family. The hospital where I trained isn't advertising at the moment - they normally advertise every year in the winter but it could be any time between now and February which isn't very helpful for me! So I'm looking at going elsewhere, I've got an interview at a hospital which is a bit too far away I think but am going anyway for the practice.

And "dont" how old is your dd? I would definitely recommend midwifery as a career but it's a very hard job sometimes, can get very emotional when things don't go as planned. And thank you! Hope your dad is doing better.

Pandora97 · 02/11/2015 17:32

Sorry dont was supposed to be in bold.

Dutchoma · 02/11/2015 17:51

Thanks MHD, that is a lovely prayer.

I hope you will find something suitable Pandora

Glad you arrived safely Oma and hopefully the night boat was a comfortable journey for you and you slept well. It does sound quite cosy being in a little cabin all snug and warm.

Mad, I love that prayer. I am going to try to screen shot it and have it to hand. Thanks for sharing it.

Pandora, she is 17 and studying for her A levels. It's all she wants to do. She is very thorough in everything she does and she would put her everything into it and really be a great midwife. She's a very quiet and sensitive girl who really takes her studies seriously and tries so hard. I just hope that everything works out well for her as she has no interest in any other career except midwifery.

Prayers for you and your work. Hopefully something perfect will be yours very soon. Can you do bank midwifery locally until something permanent and better for you comes along. There is a huge demand for midwives as dd keeps reminding us. Grin

Dad's doing OK. The doctor decided to stop the chemo tablets as they were making him poorly. The doctor said that the IV chemo had worked very well and reduced the tumours significantly. The next step is a biopsy of the adrenal gland hot spot and if it's ok and nothing nasty and dads well enough, he can have the operation to remove the tumours. It's a nasty operation with risks but it's the only hope. I just pray for the hot spot to be scar tissue and the operation to be successful. It's quite scary.
Thanks for asking after him!!

How's everyone else doing? I really wish that bonfire night was just one night only. Around here it starts on Halloween and continues for weeks. One of my dogs is petrified and insists on being carried home if he hears a firework when we are walking. It's quite tricky carrying him, walking his brother and pooper scoopering in breezy weather all at the same time Confused so roll on the end of bonfire season lol

BlackeyedSusan · 03/11/2015 15:06

BlackeyedSusan · 04/11/2015 10:37

been pulling up the last bit of the carpet from the stairs. it is currently deafeating me and clinging on by the last nails. the black dust is something to behold. the underlay is now just the backing and a pile of black dust.

Dontbesilly · 04/11/2015 12:54

Thinking of you all Oma.

Bes bet you are glad to have the new hoover. It's very satisfying hoovering it all up......or perhaps I am a bit odd Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 04/11/2015 13:40

ah yes. much more efficient than sweeping it up. I have pulled the carpet up. finally. there is so much more to do .

madhairday · 04/11/2015 16:13

Prayers for you lovely Oma. Flowers

How are you Kay? So good to see you.

I've got some nice news. I've been offered a little job which can work round my illness. It's not much but it's something to bring some more in which we need. I do a lot of unpaid work already but think I can fit this in as it's not many hours. Quite excited about it - it's all Internet based from home :)

QofF · 04/11/2015 18:35

Brilliant news Mad Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 05/11/2015 10:31

oma, are you home safe?

Dutchoma · 05/11/2015 14:08

Thank you all for your prayers. I got home at 1 o'clock today after the usual nightmare trip getting from Liverpool Street Station to Euston. Took me two hours+. Before and after that plain sailing.
The funeral itself was ok. Loads of people, everybody who spoke was fine, about 40 relatives stayed for lunch, including quite a few little ones. Glad to be home.

OP posts:
Dontbesilly · 05/11/2015 15:49

Glad you arrived safely home Oma and that the funeral went well. Put your feet up and rest after the journey. You sound shattered.

Good luck with the new job Mad, just what you needed too.

Bes good luck with the carpet pulling and all that entails. It's never ending.
