Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... SESthebrave, for problems at work; also for her MIL who has had a cancer diagnosis;

... TooBusyByHalf, as she explores and hopefully rediscovers her faith;

... weegiemum, for her continued recovery from her very scary infection and septicaemia, and also for her DD's continued progress in overcoming her anorexia;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

BlackeyedSusan · 08/06/2015 15:44

Not found it so far but have got rid of a stack of paper. I am struggling though and need to sort out the children. exhausting weekend. pray that I find some energy from somewhere to get them and bath them and feed them and prevent them killing each other.

madhairday · 08/06/2015 18:24

Prayers for you all. Flowers

PositiveAttitude · 08/06/2015 20:17

I will definitely pray for Didi, Weebirdie , and all those who love her, including you. Thanks

Tuo · 09/06/2015 00:06

Bleurgh... I seem to have some kind of cold and sore throat. Don't feel ill exactly, just annoyingly under the weather and tired. Off to my bed now.

Prayers for all tonight, but especially for FLaH (hoping it all went well), for BES (hope DD's sleepover was a success and you she didn't miss her you too much), for Dizzy (hoping you get more of the 'good' and (much) less of the 'awful' in the days to come), for amber (thanking God that you made it to church yesterday and praying for your new dementia enterprise and for your DS), and for all.

Praying especially tonight for Didi - thank you for coming to tell us about her Weebirdie. Please do come back and update us if you can - but rest assured that we will be praying. Asking God to be with Didi tonight, to keep her safe and out of pain as much as possible, for her to know peace of mind, and for all those who love her to be able to show her their love and to take comfort from doing so.

A prayer of St Augustine:
Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and let your angels protect those who sleep. Tend the sick. Refresh the weary. Sustain the dying. Calm the suffering. Pity the distressed. We ask this for the sake of your love. Amen

still struggling with a lack of energy. got to get the children, hanging around for an hour for ds.

TooBusyByHalf · 09/06/2015 18:02

Just popping by to say that I have prayed for you all today, and especially for Didi.

Things are slowly slowly starting to calm down at home; thank you all for your support. Flowers

Weebirdie · 09/06/2015 19:18

Thank you everyone.

I shall pop in tomorrow and tell you the story of our amazing Didi. Smile

SESthebrave · 09/06/2015 21:22

Weebirdie - she sounds like an amazing lady. Prayers for her, for those that love and care for her, including you.

TUO - prayers that you fight off whatever it is and feel better very soon.

FLaH - prayers that your critical 24hrs went well

Amber - prayers for your DS in his future career choices and for the dementia church services (sounds like a really valuable and important ministry).

Would appreciate prayers for DS. He has recently turned 6yo and we are having a few behaviour problems. He tends to react very easily and copes with his feelings by hitting out physically. He's fine at school, just at home that he does this. He's struggling with the fact that he can't always have his own way in things and that if me or DH ask him to do something like tidy up or go to bed, then he needs to do it.

Tuo · 10/06/2015 00:15

In haste... just popping by with prayers for all. Feeling OK, just a bit under the weather.

I want to share this prayer which I found on a Jesuit site. It was written by John Veltri, a Canadian Jesuit, who died in 2008. It is a prayer I think that I should pray often...

Teach me to listen, O God, to those nearest me, my family, my friends, my co-workers.
Help me to be aware that no matter what words I hear, the message is, “Accept the person I am. Listen to me.”
Teach me to listen, my caring God, to those far from me– the whisper of the hopeless, the plea of the forgotten, the cry of the anguished.
Teach me to listen, O God my Mother, to myself. Help me to be less afraid to trust the voice inside — in the deepest part of me.
Teach me to listen, Holy Spirit, for your voice — in busyness and in boredom, in certainty and doubt, in noise and in silence.
Teach me, Lord, to listen. Amen.

Amber We had a Dementia friendly carol service which I took my mum too. She absolutely loved it and it had me in tears watching her sing with so much gusto to all the carols that she used to know and love. I wish they would do something a bit more often here than once a year. Such a valuable thing for the sufferers and their carers to enjoy together.

At work so a short one from me today. Just off out to do our first attempt at getting people to sell some bags for us. This business venture is totally in God's hands so I am praying its a successful morning.

Just had a text to say DS has passed his driving theory test!! 3rd attempt and a lot of nagging for revision this time round!

Got to dash......

madhairday · 10/06/2015 12:06

Amen, Tuo, thankyou for that prayer today.

Well done to your ds, PA :)

Amber, I know a lady who has set up an acclaimed dementia church association around here, I can put you in touch if you like? She's actually now being paid by the diocese for her work in the area and what's she's doing is really amazing.

Praying for you all.

Feeling really sad! Just went to DS' last sports day - he's nearly finished Y6 - and he's my last so no more primary. Every day from now seems like a 'last' but mixed with the excitement of the new and him growing up into such a lovely lad. Emotional today.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/06/2015 13:18

ahh.. I am dreading the last.. 4 more years though to go before then. just that dd is getting ever closer to going to secondary. eek.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/06/2015 15:04

operation flat tidy seems to be paying off in the children's room if nowhere else at all which all looks worse. just managed to get nearly all their clothes in the wardrobe. got to go through and see which dresses dd will still fit in and then there may be even more to get rid of. just hoovered up most of their floor too in less than half an hour. Shock most of their books are now away in some sort of container or under the wardrobe out of the way. (an old freezer drawer has been pressed into use as under bed storage. the other one will be put to good use when I have sorted the lego into the new box)

need to go and get ds and wait about for dd. hope to pick up a couple of things I need at the uniform sale too.

ZipadiSoozi · 11/06/2015 00:07

MHD, in the same boat with dts, the last of everything, spent 15 years going to school, very emotional last few weeks of yr6 (twins are fine though lol) x hope you are better after your break away.

Prayers for didi Sad

BES could do with your motivation re clearing up, I have given up, nobody helps so they can all live in a pig sty! Just so soul destroying!

ZipadiSoozi · 11/06/2015 10:39

Haha have only just found how to do private messaging thanks BES have them dating back to 2011 that people have sent me! What a Flump I am.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/06/2015 11:03

funnily enough I am getting that coffee while the shopping slowly deforsts in the hall. I am supposed to be booking ds's party but having a panic about the whole thing.

I would still be in bed if I did not have to get the children to school.

amberlight · 11/06/2015 20:08

Yes, contacts re dementia services gratefully received. Thank you. Praying for all.
