Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Hello, I have a close relative who has become seriously ill over the last week and is now in a coma. She has a very young child. As a family, we are devastated. Can I ask you to pray for her complete recovery please, knowing that God is familiar with this situation and knows exactly who you are referring to? Thanks so much.

Dutchoma · 28/07/2015 09:41

Certainly Featherandblack. God knows precisely who and what you are praying about and will bring about the best in the circumstances. Trust in Him.

Peter in how far do you believe and trust that God can and will answer that prayer?

QofF · 28/07/2015 10:16

Just popping in during a very busy period to say hello and that I am still praying for you all. Peter praying for the pain to stop and feather praying for your relative and for you all. Oma God bless you for all you do and the time and wisdom you give to us all

Lightnessofbeing2015 · 28/07/2015 19:53

Just wanted to check in to pray for guidance and strength with a work project I am really struggling with and becoming disheartened.
Also to pray for Peter to be more comfortable and painfree , for Feathers relative to recover completely and to thank Oma for her support and prayer.
Dear God
Please help me to persevere with my work projects and to be determined and courageous and confident in my abilities. Help me to remember the difficulties Jesus faced with such courage and help me to stay calm during all my endeavors
Thank you Lord Amen

It's quite late as I have been making a couple of granny squares to help a friend.
So prayers tonight for all in pain, all in distress, but especially for Peterspots Lightnessofbeing and featherandblack and her relative.

Also for TUO and Edithon holiday.
This, I think, is one of my favourite evening prayers:

May the Lord support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last. Amen

NotaHappyDay · 29/07/2015 07:33

Good morning. Thank you for your prayers on Monday. I went to work yesterday and had an ok day. I have a couple of lovely supportive colleagues who are now friends and I am grateful for that. I am doing OK.

PeterSpots · 29/07/2015 09:24

Hello. Thank you for your prayers. I now can't feel any sensation in my bladder when it's full. I have an MRI on Friday. I am praying there will be some peace for me & I can find the strength to carry on.

Dutchoma · 29/07/2015 09:35

Prayer request from BES who is on 'holiday' with her mother who is suffering from dementia. She is following BES about, wittering about 'packing'. She has been on about it since before the holiday and it is on her mind all the time. BES, who has two children and a 'twonk' to cope with, is really struggling, especially when sleep deprived.
Peter hopefully the MRI will bring some answers.

EdithSimcox · 29/07/2015 13:41

Sitting in church. Today's lunchtime Eucharist was cancelled so I've used the time to pray, reading through this thread, for each and every one of you and for the needs you have expressed here; and for those who read this thread and don't post, and for peace and strength for us all.

We beseech you O Lord mercifully to look upon our infirmities; and grant that in our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in your mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PeterSpots · 29/07/2015 20:14

Thank you for the prayers. I am returning after many years & they help focus my thoughts. Really meaningful for me

Dutchoma · 29/07/2015 21:47

At the end of the day (a good day for me) turning our thoughts towards God:

Almighty God, we give you thanks for surrounding us, as daylight fades, with the brightness of the vesper light; and we implore you of your great mercy that, as you enfold us with the radiance of this light, so you would shine into our hearts the brightness of your Holy Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the blessing of the Lord lie upon us all this night.

Lightnessofbeing2015 · 30/07/2015 00:15

Amen.
A good day for me too, thank you for the prayers.
Peterspots and feather I will be thinking and praying for you .

PositiveAttitude · 30/07/2015 08:30

I am glad some of you had good days yesterday.

How is your foot DO?

Please could you pray for DS. He started a fantastic new job a week ago. Last night he had an accident at home and broke 2 bones in his hand/wrist. He may need surgery, but is going to be in plaster for 6 weeks. He is so worried he will lose this job. Please pray that his new boss is compassionate and perhaps finds things that he can do for the next 6 weeks to keep his job open for him.

Dutchoma · 30/07/2015 12:54

Oh PA that is horrible. Hopefully his boss will be compassionate and find him things to do, but it might be hard.
My foot is still sore, but not quite as bad as it was , thanks for asking.

Dutchoma · 30/07/2015 21:09

Praying tonight for Peterspot's appointment tomorrow, for Pa's ds. For BES coming to the end of the 'holiday' and for all who read these prayers but do not post themselves.

Another prayer I found on BeliefNet:

Grant us, Lord, the lamp of charity which never fails, that it may burn in us and shed its light on those around us, and that by its brightness we may have a vision of that holy City, where dwells the true and never-failing Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

QofF · 31/07/2015 05:54

bes praying for you, that sounds very hard. peter praying that today brings some answers. pa praying for a compassionate boss.
Also prayers for those who haven't been around for a bit. Am thinking in particular of angelica and her ds

PositiveAttitude · 31/07/2015 07:43

I love DS's new boss!!! Smile There is no question about him losing his job and he seemed shocked that DS would even have thought it a possibility.
The consultant, on the other hand (no pun intended!!) is a not very nice man. (everything I wanted to put there was not very Christian!!) DS is going to need surgery to have plates, pins and wires put into his hand to secure one of the bones into the correct position for healing. We need to wait for a bed to be available over the next couple of days/week hopefully. Thank you for your prayers.

PeterSpots · 31/07/2015 18:07

Thinking of all. Had MRI today & prayed for the radiologist to be able to find out what is wrong. Prayed for strength & patience. The prayers have helped my own thoughts. Thank you

Dutchoma · 31/07/2015 18:09

When will you get the results Peter?

PeterSpots · 31/07/2015 19:36

Wednesday. Praying for an answer. Thank you for your prayers & kind words

Dutchoma · 31/07/2015 21:52

Such a beautiful day here again today.

Giving thanks with PA for a thoughtful and caring boss for ds and praying with Peterspots for a solution to all the pain.
Praying also for Anjelica and for BES who is on her way home.

Another evening prayer from beliefnet:

O Lord God Almighty, as you have taught us to call the evening, the morning, and the noonday one day; and have made the sun to know its going down: Dispel the darkness of our hearts, that by your brightness we may know you to be the true God and eternal light, living and reigning for ever and ever. Amen

PositiveAttitude · 01/08/2015 08:33

Surgery was done yesterday. All went well.

Prayers for BES to have a smooth journey home.

And MHD who I believe is travelling today, too.

Dutchoma · 01/08/2015 08:40

Glad to hear that PA. Prayers for quick and problem-less healing.

Dontbesilly · 01/08/2015 09:03

Please can you pray for my dad. Yesterday we discovered that he has oesophageal cancer which has spread to the lymph nodes, it is inoperable and terminal and has approximately a year to live.

I am a wreck and pray for a complete miracle of healing and strength to support my parents and family. I pray that my faith will be galvanised. I feel so devastated for him and selfishly for myself too. I love him so much.

Dutchoma · 01/08/2015 09:35

Oh darling, how very hard for you. Praying for miracles: yes, all sorts of miracles, not just that of complete healing. Praying for a year filled with joy, filled with love, filled with the grace of Jesus, with an absence of fear.
Praying that, yes, your faith will be galvanised, that you will be able to see beyond death to the glorious life of heaven.
