Can anyone recommend good homegroup materials for new Christians?

I am starting a new homegroup in our church as we have a number of new Christians who have just completed the Alpha course. I would like to find some kind of book or resource that is interesting and engaging as I find that a lot of them are just very...dull. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

"Just for Starters" is good - I've used it as a follow on from Christianity Explored here

We used "Believe and be Baptised" with a similar sounding group, but a proportion of them had expressed a desire to be baptised & we are a Baptist church. The main thing I wanted to say is that we've learned that the right mix of people can make dry materials interesting, by chatting about how tenets raised in the source material have affected us in our daily lives: sharing, laughing, occasionally crying and through it all definitely learning.

We are about the trial the new Pilgrim material. In the past we have used Emmaus.

I've just read 'Joseph' by Sarah Savage and that had some good session outlines for each chapter at the end of the book and you could combine that with watching bits of the stage show and singing along with the well known songs!

We've used the Nooma series of DVDs which are amazing for post Alpha/Christianity Explored groups. They are low key but have profound messages which really get people talking - and presented in a compelling and non-'Christianese' type way. I would heartily recommend.

Also used the freedom in Christ course which was made as a follow up to a course like Alpha so could be good as well.

The Y Course has been recommended as well but haven't used it yet.

I love Nooma but our group didn't on the whole. We have recently done a dvd series on Yancey and What's so Amazing about Grace and it has been excellent. Very practical subject and easy tk run because of the way the dvd is set out.
