This? Thinking of getting it for Pagan friend but not sure is she'll like it? She celebrates something around Christmas? Confused

I'm a pagan and if you gave it to me I would thank you profusely before hiding it at the back of a wardrobe until the next time you came over.

I think the general ornament giving rule applies here. Does she already have stuff like that in her house? If so then go for it as it would be a lovely and thoughtful gift. If not then get her something a bit plainer that would suit a wider variety of tastes.

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 16/11/2013 13:19

You simply cannot give that to anyone. Pagan or otherwise.

Leviticus · 16/11/2013 13:31

You secretly hate her don't you?

thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 16/11/2013 14:30

My pagan friends get nice wine or chocs or indulgent bath stuff same as everyone else. No complaints so far...

The item linked in the OP is, I suspect, something she will love or hate and unless her place is wall to wall ornaments like this it is best not to risk it. Unless as Leviticus says you really hate her.

TheSporkforeatingkyriarchy · 16/11/2013 15:03

Depends on the person but I wouldn't give that purely because of her faith (and I would ask her what she celebrates, there are hundreds of different types of pagans and many pagan celebration in midwinter, and only a small percentage follow the types that celebrates Yule).

iklboo · 16/11/2013 15:31

I'm pagan & don't 'do' fairies. I would make all the right noises if you gave it to me & then stick it in a cupboard until you came round again.

MostlyLovingLurchers · 16/11/2013 16:35

Unless you know for sure she is into fairy tat i really wouldn't. As a pagan i like the same sort of stuff as most other people - wine, good books, wine. If someone wanted to buy me a present that specifically reflected my paganism i would like something ethical made from natural materials and practical, something like this maybe. If in doubt go for something consumable that she won't have to live with it she hates it. I wouldn't make any assumptions about her beliefs.

Thanks for the info Grin

That trivet is nice MLL.

iklboo · 17/11/2013 22:59

Now that trivet IS nice!

msmiggins · 18/11/2013 09:25

Oh no- I would consider it rude and presumptious. I am a witch and I would be offended if someone gave me his.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 18/11/2013 23:37

msmiggins I'd be offended if someone gave me his too Wink

I showed the friend it and she said it was ok but prefered something else by the same artist so I wasn't too far off the mark. Not sure if I'll bother though?

I'm pagan and I'm not keen on the fairy object at all. It reminds me of those shops in Glastonbury full of dust collecting fairy figurines. I don't mind the trivet though. I agree though that unless you are very very sure of her taste, go for something consumable.

sashh · 21/11/2013 08:51

fairies are not part of pagan beliefs.

Does your friend like fairy stuff?

FreakinScaryCaaw · 21/11/2013 13:23

Yes she does.
