Is anyone on here a Quaker, would they mind sharing anything you would like about it ?

I'm not a Quaker but I've been attending meeting on and off for about 12 years, I'll answer any questions I can though.

Why did you chose to go there? What are meetings like? Is there the sense of community that you get in some churches ? (sorry lots)

Hi. I'm not a Quaker either (though there are some on here, I know) but I work opposite a Quaker Meeting House and have seen this programme advertised. It looks interesting and definitely useful if you want to find out more. Sorry not to be more helpful, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows more.

Though they often pretend they are not, they are a branch of Christianity. Nothing wrong with being that, but it gets hidden away rather a lot.

My dads side of the family are quakers. Lovely people. roundy I've never known quakers to hide being a Christian sect. They're just not big on Jesus and the bible as they believe the spirit of God is in everybody. I'm not religious myself but have nothing but admiration for how quakers conduct themselves. There is nothing pushy, presctiptive, dogmatic or hierarchical in the Quaker way of life

I've been to some Quaker events and meetings. They are interesting, and like any branch of religion, it has some good points and it has bad points.

I guess I was disappointed to find that despite the outward look of things, their community still has egos and bigotry, though perhaps less than you would find at other Christian churches.

I've also known non-Christian Quakers, though I'm not entirely sure how that works.

My friend is a Quaker and I've been to a meeting with her. There are lots of very admirable ideas in Quakerism, I think, the pacifism, the simplicity. I think most Quakers do believe in a Christian god though. What would be the point of going as an atheist?
