I liked anything by Raj Persaud

WisteriaWoman · 07/08/2012 22:25

Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley -aka FLy Lady. She's taught me how to keep house and stay sane and to Finally love Yourself.
Buddhism for MOthers / Buddhism for Parents on the Go - by Sarah Napthali
Anything by Rabbi Lionel Blue as he makes me laugh and think at the same time.

Anne Dickson's books on assertiveness.

When I Say No, I Feel Guilty

Dr Phil, think it was called Life Matters? In some bits very cheesy and all about him, but the chapter 'People Do What Works' was really good as were a few others.

Time Management for Manic Mums - Alison something.

Flylady website is great but don't own the book.

I would second Sarah Napthali's books - Buddhism for Mothers is the first thing i buy now for friends with new (and not so new) babies.

I also love Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. It helps you see the pleasure and joy in the mundane and everyday.

I will have to read some of these, especially " When I say No, I feel guilty", sounds like me.

Anything by Dorothy Rowe, she's a genius Smile

Toxic Parents by Susan Forward.

sweetsandmoresweets · 08/08/2012 19:23

I quite like books by Louise Hay.

IslaValargeone · 08/08/2012 19:25

Can I ask, have these books really made a positive difference to your lives then?

crispyminiweetabix · 08/08/2012 20:06

I feel the books have made a difference, especially "The magic of believing" by Claude Bristol. I have made things happen (in a positive) way by using mind power, the book tells you of techniques how to do it and really believe in yourself, and it does work, well worth reading.

Yes the books have made a BIG difference.
Buddhism for Mothers - introduced me to Buddhism and made something which is quite alien to me - feel v accessible and relevant to my life as a mother and wife. (The section on partners is brilliant!)
SInk Reflections - has helped me stop stressing over being a perfectionist and made me accept that my house won't be perfect but that doesn't' matter. Marla Cilley is a wonderful writer and brilliant on You Tube. (Hilarious) Anyone who can make me laugh whilst I'm cleaning the loos - has to be a saint in my book !

Eckhart Tolle's book 'a new earth' is really making me think a lot lately.

He talks about problems of the world and of people being caused by the ego and has some great insights on what is actually meant in religious texts (especially the bible) behind the semantics.

If you have no set religion (or even if you do) but are spiritual and are looking for a better way to live' this is invaluable.
