Please can someone help me? Tarot - in desperate need of guidance

I'm sorry to trouble you but I really need some help. I have been at a crossroads for quite some time now and feel like I need something - anything - to help me through.

I've posted on MN before (a few years ago now) and the overwhelming feeling was that "Tarot is a load of rubbish" - I'm sure you know what I mean. Please please, if this is all you have to say then please just don't post - I can't deal with having to justify my thoughts and beliefs to a load of strangers who don't know me.

I need to find a Tarot reader for a face to face reading. I've been on to the TABI website but it seems that the majority of specialists only do email readings and I don't have the strength to contact anyone and potentially be persuaded to go down the email route. I'm not that strong at the moment.

If anyone can help - if anyone has any recommendations - (I'm in NW London/Herts/Bucks border) - any advice would be so appreciated.

Thanks and sorry for taking up your time Sad

mrstiredandconfused I could have wrote that post. I am in NW London myself. If you find anybody decent would you be so kind as to pm the person's details. Thanks x

Why not buy a deck of cards and a book and try it for yourself?

I can vouch for this woman. She's very genuine and has a degree in psychology too, so possibly exactly what you need. In central London. (It's not me!)

Tarot isn't rubbish, they just can't predict the future.

What the cards can do is give us a clue as to what our unconscious mind is thinking, all those little things that we are picking up on but aren't being brought to the forefront of our minds.

The cards are only a tool, they aren't magic, they don't have psychic abilities. They just help us to know ourselves a little bit better.

The problem with using tarot as a crutch is that it can become addictive and you may find yourself constantly wanting to use them for guidance.

As SGB has said, there is no reason why you can't buy a good pack of cards and begin learning how to read them yourself.

WGC is bang on, tarot cards are a kind of meditative tool rather than 'magic'. I am a hardline atheist these days, but I used to use tarot cards, and there is still a deck kicking around in a drawer somewhere. Mind you, I mainly used them to give my troubled pal advice in the full knowledge that she wouldn't listen to me but she would listen to The Cards. (I knew what her problems were down to, and it wasn't at all difficult to interpret the cards as saying 'Bin your abusive boyfriend...' no matter what ones actually popped up.)

There is some value in tarot cards if you read them for yourself, what you get is an opportunity to think your way around and through whatever is troubling you, and choose an interpretation of what cards you have laid out that suits you. But you can do this easily enough for yourself, and it's better than paying out a lot of money to a 'reader' who doesn't know you or your situation and is really only after your money.

I agree completely with the last couple of posts, I've read tarot for myself for 10+ years and find it really useful. However... I did once have a brilliant reading by someone who was over from the states, recommended by a friend, the only reading I've ever had. I'd go to her again if she was over here. As she's not, I'll just get my own cards out. On your own is better than a mediocre reading by far.
