Hi. I'm a sucker for having my fortune told. But yesterday I had a psychic telephone reading from a well known company. I had spent a lot of money on this call and the reader the other end was absolute rubbish, I could have kicked myself for being so gullable. This was the first time I've actually had a reading by phone through payment on card. Is there anybody out there who has actually had a reading that's blown them away on the phones?.

FWIW, the first time I read your post I thought it was a Viz toptip. IMO, you've discovered what a lot of people suspect about those phone lines. They are rubbish. As, IMVHO is all of the psychic woo.

Here to support you ripsishere! Don't know what to say op, other than yes, you were gullible. I had a time in my life when I was v interested in spiritualism and have seen quite a few 'psychics' in action - hand on heart not one of them was genuine. Even at that time I would NEVER have gone near a psychic phone line - they are there to make money, tis all. I get furiously angry at vulnerable people being misled and fleeced by charlatans.

I think the thing to really ask yourself is what is it that you are wanting to know? Why are you so keen to know your future and so ready to believe that someone can tell you?

I have had two from big well known companies, and both were rubbish, absoulate rubbish.

I recently did a tarot reading for a friend. I just made it up using Barnum statements and at the end she could see how easy it is for charlatans to make money out of the vulnerable. It makes me feel to know people are trotting out these well rehearsed lines and getting paid so much for it.

Goth1980s: You exemplify PT Barnum's famous comment. Anybody who believes that their future is pre-ordained for them is a gullible fool. Hopefully you've learned a salutory (and from the sound of it) financially expensive lesson.

I find it ludicrous that in the second decade of the 21st Century so many people (invariably of my own sex) believe in such claptrap.

A good, genuine and ethical psychic SHOULD be offering a money back guarantee if you don't feel the reading was of value to you.

I say this as a part timer tarot reader. I always make it clear that my client can have a full refund if the reading is poor or mediocre. I have only had ONE client refunded so far in all the readings I have done!

I agree that there are some psychic readers who are anything but psychic, and just generally cold reading their clients very effectively.

I know some people will think I am mad / unscrupulous, but I promise you that I DO believe in what I do and that I can give good, accurate readings and help other people by supporting them in considering how they want their lives to progress.

I guess I would fall into the 'believes she is psychic, is actually a bit bonkers but means well' catergory!

Oh dear, sorry to hear this! Don't be too hard on yourself for being gullible, it is easy to be drawn in to this kind of thing.

As ManicPanic mentioned, if it was a well known, big company like you say, then they should have some kind of money back guarantee. Have a read through their terms and conditions to see where you stand. These things can be expensive so I'm sure you will feel better if you can do this, and put the whole thing down to experience.

I wouldn't be too put off having a reading again in the future, as I do believe there are some good psychics out there.. despite your bad experience :-(. Just make sure you go with a trusted company, who offer a money back guarantee. Another thing to look out for is if the site allows you to leave feedback or not.

on phones no but on texts yes many a time. i tried a few different ones but one gets it spot on the majority of the time and is always live so has become my staple lol feel free to pm for the one i use if interested op :)

I suppose you have to ask yourself, how do these readings actually work? What property within the universe allows them to be anything other than pure exploitation (whatever form of "reading")?

Telephone psychic lines are a load of twaddle and give true psychics a bad name. They are manned by anyone, you do not have to be psychic, just have a good gift of the gab. A couple of mates of mine have manned the phones and made a fortune!

I have had some crap readings but went to see the same lady twice who was excellent. She predicted the initials of my future Dh (who I met 6 months later) his initials are MDS so no that easy to get right. She got a lot of other stuff right too including things which no one else could know She was very scary - not particularly friendly, rather 'witchlike' to look at. She was the real deal alright. She was recommended to me by someone who had been to see her and was shocked by how accurate she was too.

Have had other readings which were pure bollox, including phone ones.

I think that there are true psychics but that they are greatly outnumbered by frauds, sadly.

A psychic works out of my shop (pagan/witchcraft shop) and I have to say she's incredible. I was always a bit sceptical about mediums etc, but she really is the real deal. Down to pinpointing lost items, describing those that have passed down to a tee. Never get a reading over the phone, and avoid the super expensive mediums. They don't care about what they are saying as long as they get the money.
