I loved Buddhism for Mothers ( Sarah Napthali) and Moma Zen by someone who's name I've forgotten.
Both recommended by people on this thread sometime ago. If you want a general introduction to Buddhism first go to your library and see what they've got. (the kids library is usually a good place to start, I find ) Also BBC website - religious section usually gives a nice overview of different faiths.

Also worth looking at is Tricycle - a Buddhist online magazine. The mag is GREAT - lovely photos and v accessible and written for all varieties of buddhists.
ENJOY !

Hi Wisteria, thanks for your advice. I have ordered the Sarah Napthali one for school age children. Sounds great.

Good recommendations Faerie and Wisteria ! Buddhanet is excellent - lots of different things there, including a lot of free ebooks. One thing that is worth pointing out is that buddhism is a set of practices - essentially developing awareness (aka 'mindfulness') and some sort of meditation practice. It is useful to read the basic ideas, but they are sometimes not that easy to grasp - it takes a while (well it did for me!) - you could always see if there are any local buddhist groups near you, there is a directory on buddhanet (or at least there used to be...)
