If your parish runs a parish retreat...

...how has it been organised? ...and has it worked?

a few years ago there used to be a day of recollection during Lent organised by our priest, but this was not well advertised and he tended to tell people he thought would be interested which resulted in a dwindling attendance of increasingly elderly people. I did go one year, was the youngest by about 30 years, and the cliquiness of it would make me reluctant to go again. Other people feel similarly.

But we would still like to have some kind of parish retreat - hopefully more inclusive of different age groups - However we need a clearer idea of what we want and how it could be organised before approaching our priest. Our (catolic) parish is tiny, so we are never going more than a small group of people, so we can't be too ambitious. Do you have any suggestions that have worked in your parish?

Thanks...

We used A Journey in Prayer fr a day of reflection. I know the DVD says its 45 mins, but thats only if you watch them all "back to back". Combined with the prayer posters, you could make a very good day out of it, combined with times of silence, lunch and a mass?

We have a church away weekend every year. We have an outside speaker who runs the sessions, lots of worship, children's groups and FUN.
